Well done Bruce,a fine piece Jaro, she's glowing I'd clean up the edges of the trees and maybe add a few specks of green randomly close to the trees themselves?

Hey Alex, it is half cotton, when cotton is wet it loosens and that is a pretty big canvas and the effect may be worse than on a small canvas. Linen shrinks when wet as you see I had this happen the first time I stretched linen: I had the canvas on loose before this and it still tightened it up and warped it good. I had to unstaple and restretch and I would guess that is the only thing you can. Yours being half cotton did the opposite. Now I...

Art -- I'm glad those mixtures helped. Yes, Blue Ridge has exceptional price points! It is the most economical of the premium paint types. Get it before it becomes to popular and prices go up someday! I finished the paint comparisons today and got the photos done, and I think you will be very impressed how it measures up to familiar and premium brands. (Just that pesky evaluating and writing to do! ) The Flemish White is a lead white with...

That photo of the table with all the Vasari paints - you walk in, and they just let you play ?? Are Vasari really much better than other brands? I take it pigment quality and load is high, but how do they differ in handling properties?

Nice timing Jim, my shipment is coming tomorrow and you covered all the colors I got! Also will try his newer copal medium. About the cadmium black, that is no longer listed in his colors but now there is a cadmium brown. There is a cadmium brown pr108 http://www.artiscreation.com/red.html which must be a very brown shade, could this be the very same color and Eric has just...

i would surmise that the coating back and front at different times caused this problem. you essentially had one side of the canvas expanding at a different rate than the ground on the other side, causing buckling. i bet if you coated both sides at the same time this would be negated. although having your canvas stretched and then coating with warm glue will always cause expansion and loosening. ...

George, I had the opportunity to test just one color: yellow ocher light. It was the only yellow ocher they have of this brand. I think it´s yellow ocher with some white on it. The color is great. Compared to Brazilian brands (not the bad brands), it´s much stronger than the standard yellow ocher, wich impressed me. It´s a little bit on the cool side for me though, I was expecting something much ...

Great post Jim. Looks like the safflower and walnut yellowed less than the poppy, which is interesting, considering many think poppy is superior, just because it it more expensive. Do you mind posting what brands of oils you used?

I'm not really sure if I'm following your question. Do you mean intensity across the color spectrum, or just with specific colors?
