I think they work...good vibrant colors, nice path-through with the darks, good variation of width of the dark line to keep the painting moving and interesting. As for seperate or together, I think you would need to keep them seperate. Both of these faces "appear" to be looking in the
same direction... if they had been looking in diff directions you could have put them together as a diptych and ...

Not bad. You begin a very good cascade at the top of the piece that unfortunately peters out at the bottom third. Adding more blue marks might either bring that part forward or push it back adding movement that the piece needs to
keep it alive.

Wow, love the second one in particular. The only thing that doesn't quite work for me on that one are the
reddish (orange?) small bars on the right side. I don't know if muting/darkening them a bit would make a difference. For me they are a little too stark or maybe even harsh given the rest of the piece. But I love the colors and the overall composition. That's a great piece.

Nice color, but despite
the windmill you've stuck in the center this is not even close to looking like the Netherlands. Look at some of the Dutch master paintings and you'll see why. Here's a hint: remember the story of the little boy who stuck his finger in the dike--why'd he do that?
