Spurious payment prompts from Ebay
Published (2009-11-26 19:29:00)
I wonder if it is just this site that is sending the reminders, I have been bidding on several of a US seller's items and she is happy to wait until I say I have finished and I haven't received any reminders even though there is nearly a week between the first and last items. Interesting.

sorry about the missed opportunity to wear to the wedding, but yes, I think wait until the mail clears on MONDAY and then lodge dispute.

Was it an ordinary paper envelope? If so you should give a full refund as the items were not packed properly. If is was a plastic satchel from AP I don't know what you should do. How can the buyer prove the satchel was empty when she received it?

Hi mems, slow down, I think you are getting ahead of yourself here...If you pay via Paypal, as others have said, the item will be marked as paid on the system so you will not get a strike for not paying, so relax first on that one. The seller appears to be reassuring and i am sure once you make payment you will get them The seller might just be waiting for payment before he drops them off....I really don't think this is an issue to report...

Hi Phorum-Junkie, You got a good point but often enough with big items and/or heavy items, when you buy , aren't you supposed to pay first before the transaction is finalised? The article was posted as new, and I would be hard pressed to believe that one can't change a sale, have money refunded if the item to be picked up was not what it was shown as in a listing. Due to location, I never have pick up items, and this was going to be...

and was told it only happened if you subscribed to SM and to unsubscribe to stop them!!!!! That's an interesting answer you got form T&S, P_J. That item I was picking up that I got the payment reminder for, was won from a seller who has only sold some household items that she wanted to get rid of because she was moving. I doubt very much she would have subscribed to SM for only ...

There is no way of resolving it, unfortunately. eBay started sending these auto payment reminders out last week, & there is no way for sellers to turn them off. You are not the only one who is upset about it. A lot of sellers & some buyers posted about it in the forums.

Report them immediately to ebay. NO they cannot list like that & dodge fees. You have paid the correct amount as per their listing details so now they are obliged to part with the item. It does not matter what they say in the description section. They won't (obviously) so you will need to raise a seller non performance dispute via paypal. The seller will get a strike & you will get...

The seller would have to have a dangerous goods license and a contracrt with AP I believe. There is a seller on the boards who has gone through all this....she will probably be around in the morning and will answer your question more fully.

I'm pretty sure that is just their standard email. I have had three refunds from paypal so far & I know for a fact that one of the sellers had emptied their paypal account as paypal told me so. I got a full refund every time & I know I have received a similar email from paypal.

Hi mems, the item is the charder baby scales? The seller is giving the option of mail for the item. Just go ahead and pay via Paypal. The seller is clearly offering postage as an option. Just go ahead and pay for them and wait for them to be mailed. You will not get a dispute opened against you if you pay. It looks to me that the seller is waiting for payment. If you leave it too long without ...

Some will, some won't. Some do, some don't. One day you will wake up and find your star has changed colour. When that happens, come back here and I'll stand you a treat at the bar - your choice. Due to the hot weather, I'm on Chardonay at the moment. Oi, where's Ivy with the bar service? Booka
