still not losing weight
Published (2009-11-25 15:14:00)
( It may be that because the initial loss was so much, your body is just pausing \(even though it's longer than you'd like\) before it loses more. I would bet you'll probably drop very soon! What is your caloric intake, what kind of foods are you eating, how much protein, how much water, how much sodium. If your calories are something really low like 600, I would increase them honestly. Stick to high protein and complex carbs...

( What are the symptoms of having too much acid? I never get that like, yucky throw up taste like I did before surgery. I try to lower my carbs...but I need to "detox" from them. 100 is higher than I want to be. I think 50 to 60 is good. ,)

Question for those who get...
Published (2009-11-25 20:24:00)
( Ya - I'd say 100g carbs is too much. Is that "net" carbs, or total carbs? I keep my total carbs \(mostly from dairy or veggies\) around 40g a day. If I go much over that, I feel more hunger \(growlies\). I'm a clock watcher. If it's been 2+ hours since I've eaten when I feel that, I eat. If less, I drink water. That usually makes it go away. Sometimes a Rolaids works as well. I still have...

( I don't think I look older. However, I am getting a bit concerned with how thin my face has gotten. In some pictures I think I look a bit drawn. I still have almost 40 lbs to go, so am a little afraid I'm going to end up looking like Skeletor!

( OK Go RIGHT NOW and get a preop pic and put it beside it. Seriously. You might not be where you want to be and love your pics but you aren't where you were. STOP it. See what you see when you look in the mirror. Be that girl and see the difference.
Now for compassion \(\(\(Hugs\)\)\). You will get there .And I am sorry your daughter was not having it. Raina never takes pics well but ...

( This is my fourth Thanksgiving since my VSG in 2006. I cook the same stuff I've always cooked. My family is happy for that. I eat everything, but I only sample - a bite of ths and a bite of that..... I may be the exception to the normal rule but my taste buds did not change. I no longer like sweets now but it's not because they don't taste good it's because they make me nauseous. ,)

( I went on a cruise last March and at the time I wasn't concerned about what or how much I ate! :\)
We did a Carnival cruise also and there is food pretty much going ALL DAY and ALL NIGHT! :\) 24 hour room service \(free btw\) is available for the inbetween snacks! Check on the website, but I believe you can take some items onboard, like your carnation mix and some bottled water! The ...

( Hi Mark,
I too had the last supper mentality for a moment. Then, I realized that it isn't the end, but the beginning. I am only 1 week out past my surgery and am doing better than I thought I would with food. sticking to the pre-op is important to shrink you liver so there aren't complications.
However, every surgeon is different. I had to do 3 days pre-op of clear liquids and ...

( This is my 4th Thanksgiving PostOp and it's never been a problem. My plan: to sample just about everything - a bite or two of each thing. I don't like sweets any longer so I'll pass on the pies and deserts. Being the cook, I'll be on my feet all day so that's plenty of calories burned there. My gym is open from 8 to 2 so I'll probably go for a workout before the cooking begins. ,)

( It's sort of like the Taliban and Al Quaida pushing the only true religion! Thankfully there are some moderate DS'ers who accept that some folks don't require their surgery to reach personal weight loss goals. Everyone should discuss their own lifestyle and eating habits with their surgeon to determine the surgery that is appropriate for them. ,)

( Because fat is caloric, I did lower it when and where I could when I was working on losing weight. Low fat mayo and sour cream, but full fat cheese \(the cheese just doesn't taste or melt the same when it's reduced fat\). Chicken or turkey white meat vs dark meat, that sort of thing.
I still do low fat mayo but I use full fat cream cheese on 1/2 a bagel now. I make a great pumpkin ...

( I'm no surgeon but I can't understand why you had a JP drain with a LAP procedure? Second point, are you taking Prilosec OTC or a similar drug for acid? An acid stomach can cause a lot of abdominal distress and pain.
Good luck. I hope you can get to the bottom of it and get some relief. ,)

( As much as we look forward to our new lives post op, there is a lot of sacrifice involved. Could it be that you are mourning those things you will give up post op?
