( I know for a fact, if you and your family came down, the 4 of us would get along as if we had known each other all our lives. Tammy I often think, "My gosh we get along like we have known each other for years". I don't know if you see it or not, but we are so alike in so many ways... I first noticed it in the 30 Day Challenge... You guys are welcome anytime! Hugs, Cindy ,)

Post-op question..Who is open...
Published (2009-11-13 12:12:00)
( I am pretty open, but my decision to tell people was my then 6 year old. She's very emotional and knew I was going away for 5 days. She would see my bandages and know I couldn't pick her then 3 year old sister up etc. She would ask questions. So I told her I was having surgery to get healthy and I didn't want to tell her not to tell people. I mainly told my close friends and family. I received a lot of support. A few were...

( Oh me me me I have! I have been on a three month stall which I just broke. How you say? Weeeeeeell.....long story short I kept avoiding going back to basics. I wanted to have my cake and eat it too...literally. So after the third month I reluctantly LOL decided to go down the health food isle and look at the protien shakes again\(haven't had one in over a year\) Hmmmm, lets try this one I thought. Got it home, got it cold and...

( Aw Cindy-you didn't put any pressure on me, I put it on myself, and that's always when I fail, and then binge and eat crap I shouldn't..I'm the worlds BEST self-saboteur\(sp?\) I'm going to try to keep inching away from the damn carb monster, and hopefully that will break this stall, it's my choices that make or break my weight loss. ( I think they hope people don't do the math & figure out how little weight loss is expected. I think they also hope people consider WLS too risky...IMO, taking pills is just as risky if not riskier than most WLS. 8-14% in a year is ridiculous! I hope people realize that! ,)

Hi Mandy,
Yes, Kaiser does cover the sleeve. That was my reason to switch my insurance provider when I had wasted almost two years trying to get qualified with HealthNet, as it seems to be the case with Aetha for you. In the end, they decided I did not have a medical reason for VSG, which I later came to find out was not the truth (asthma).
The process at Kaiser is lengthy, but the ...

Welcome LouLou!!!!
You'll doooo fine!
I was in the same boat as you. I drank coffee on my pre-op diet until the night before surgery. I had a slight headache on day 2 of post -op. I tried coffe after surgery and didn't like the taste at all. It was about 3 months post-op before my tastebuds enjoyed it again.

( Have you ever tried MIracle Noodles? They have to be orderd online but there is a similary product at the grocery store called Shirataki Noodles. I am still pre-op so I don't know if they work post-op, I guess just like everything: chew, chew, chew.....but both Miracle Noodles and Shirataki Noodles are zero carbs and VERY low calories. ,)

( I haven't had surgery yet but I was wondering about su****oo. I'm a huge fan! I'm hoping that at least sashimi will be doable down the road \(that's the plain seafood that comes on the rice and I could do without the rice. I'm hoping some post-op people reply to this post. :\) ,)

( I think that people probably lie about all sorts of things on the boards...their food, their weight, their weight loss...heck even people's pictures are incredibly misleading sometimes \(I speak from experience and absolute certainty here\)....all you can do is chose to believe people or not...

( Well, I assume the varied reasons for individual weight gain are just as varied as the results we get with various surgical options.
I am assuming that the endocrinologist, will come back with something interesting. There is simply no explanation other than some sort of metabolic screwiness that would cause someone with a BMI of +40 to not lose weight on 600-800 calories a day.

( In life there is always going to be someone better off and someone worse off than you. That doesn't change the feelings you have on your particular journey. I think we can all share our feelings and perceptions of ourselves honestly.
I saw a photo of myself at 260 pounds this week and I was horrified. Of course it's all relative, if I had started at 500 pounds 260 probably wouldn't look ...

( Cindy! You look amazing! I want to be you!....tall, thin, long beautiful legs...wow!
Wonderful wonderful job. You are also being true and honest to yourself, if you have a problem, you identify it and go and fix it. That is great...that is why you have been so successful! Keep up the good work
