I think Kerri suggested a while ago that the best thing is to eat what you normally do in the morning. I ate a fiber one bar and it was a mistake because before the race I was already nervous and the fiber one bar made it worse ... Maybe just a bowl of cereal or some oatmeal or something.

I got a HRM today. I am not sure I did it right. I probably didn't pick the best workout to try it out on (a 49 min sculpting video). It gave me 318 calories burned. That's about what the Activity Tracker calculated. I'm open for any pointers on using the HRM to its fullest.

yes you may lose inches faster than pounds but no IMHO you should only measure yourself once a month (or I have found not more often than every 3 weeks).

C25K GRAD Challenge - Saturday
Published (2009-11-14 14:51:00)
Amy, thanks. Yeah. I have a Polar. I'll take it to my local jeweler and see if he/she can do it. Just got back from a 6.4 mile run/walk, using 1:25/0:55 run/walk ratio. It was a tough run with good sized hills, and a 3 mile loop, so I faced the same hills twice. Still, using run/walk, I kept my pace under 12 mm. According to my "schedule," I think I'll leave my walk breaks at :55 and increase my runs to 1:30 next...

Jamala Seattle Hi everyone, I went to a meeting this morning with my neigbor who recently joined WW (on my suggestion!). She has lost 6.4 lbs in her first 2 weeks, yeah!! I talked with the leader about my recent loss of 2 DP and she suggested that I add one point back to see how that effects me. I have been feeling really hungry on 20 DP! Having a hard time getting in my GHG too- quite a difference just 1 pt means! I am going to try adding it...

Nicole Iowa W7D1 DONE! :) How the run went: The run went pretty well. I was trying to think of week 6 day 3 and where I was when the cues chimed in, and then I realized that I did 2 extra minutes that day because I bumped my iPod.... so today, I went 2.41 miles in 25 minutes. I've been getting aches, but they aren't necessarily in my side.... I don't know what that's from. I know that I didn't get enough water...

YAY!! Christie is getting that HRM. <----wondering why I'm smiling from ear-to-ear as if I'm about to purchse one! *snort* I agree. Please don't waste money with a cheap HRM, also Spacs comments about the type of Polar are right on the money. I've purchased several items from heartratemonitors.usa. It seems that their prices are cheaper than Sport Authority or other comparable stores (as most direct wholesalers are...

Jennifer-whoohoo on getting your runs in! It feels so good to have a week where you are on track doesnt it?! New shoes are the best. Louise-your hips sounds like it is doing great. And you are a very nice mommy to do that for your sons. Potter- It is a beautiful day here too, great morning for a run. Although it has been getting hot in the afternoons, 81 degrees yesterday at 2! Go to coolrunning.com and check out the C25K program (couch to 5K). It will have you running 3 miles or 30 mins straight in approx 9 weeks. It's an awesome program, loads of people here either have used it or are currently using it and it's excellent. Gets you going gradually to minimize the risk of burnout or injury. It's a 3x per week program only ...

Good morning, runners. Wow, yesterday was unusually slow on the board! I had a lovely run, and I'm hoping for a nice bike ride today. I have a newbie question for you all: We know that conventional wisdom says not to increase your distance by more than 10%/week, but I'm not sure how far/long that is. Last week, I ran 11.5 miles, about. So, 10% of ...

Opted to just do my physical therapy/core exercises this morning along with the pushups I'm doing as part of a push-up challenge. What I do is one set of pushups, then I do a hip exercise, then back to the next set of pushups, and so forth, so I'm never resting totally. Works for me. I usually give myself one AP for a 20-odd-minute session of this sort ...

That is a machine that can kick my rear. When I started I started small. I forced myself to do 5 min before I'd take a break. I was wanting to stop at 1. Just hang in there and try to do the most you can at one time. You'll quickly build up.

Good afternoon walkers! We had a terrible Nor'eastern blow through the past couple of days- flooding, winds, etc. Luckily the flooding in our neighborhood went down quickly and we didn't lose power. I did 3.5 miles on the treadmill this morning and was able to jog 2 miles straight. The 2nd mile was for Scooby, I thought about all the miles that she...

Gail Austin, Texas I am planning an easy 5 mile running this morning. It is 52° right now, so it should be perfect. The weather this week has been wonderful, sunny and in the high 70s by afternoon. Our oak trees are dropping acorns like crazy, the yard is about an inch thick in acorns. So I’m going to go out and rake them up after my run. I signed...

Good morning Runners, It is a GREAT day for some kind of a workout! Here it's bright and shiny and perfect for a run outside. I ran about 2.5 miles this morning at a 1:25/.55 ratio, and increased my pace to 11.1/mile. On the other hand, I can feel my shins and calves. So, I'll do lots of stretching right now and through the day and take a few ...

Good morning, runners. Starting us off. Nothing seems to ache from my pushups. (okay, I'm surprised!) But one calf feels a little sore. I'll ice when I get home and make my second run on Thursday, since I bowl late tonight. Maybe I'm pushing myself a little too hard? My run yesterday felt fine. Donno. I'll cbl. Have a great day. Donna NWNJ Recovery day 2 I had a really carpy week at work last week, and got thrown off my activity wagon big time. Wasn't able to work out for 4 days, and when I ran for the first time in 6 days, it was not fun--I did a total of 25 minutes spread over 4 running intervals. Ugh. Today was better though, I ran for 20 minutes, walked 5, then ran ...

Ugh. I woke up this morning totally swollen. My hands and feet were puffy and I was up 1.4 from last weeks WI, presumably because of the puffiness. My stomach feels totally icky too and I'm having a throat thing. Perhaps the cold I had this weekend isn't quite gone? I also just found out that a Kashi cereal that I eat occasionally is 3 pts a cup, not ...

Good morning everyone! It's cold here again so the thought of a tankini was pleasant. Although, I've never had a tankini bathing suit because they kind of make your stomach pudge out. Anyway. Mornin' all. WI this morning I stayed exactly the same. Haha. I think it was probably my body getting used to eating more than I have been for about a month because I think I had almost been starving myself of nutrients.
