Replying to: comments His conclusions do not surprize me. MI ("heart attack") events depend on the quality (type) of plaque more than on the quantity of plaque. Excess polyunsaturated fats (like the popular vegetable oils) lead probably to abnormalities in the composition of cellular structures that use fats, such as cellular membranes. This probably affects mostly the newly grown ...

Hi there - First time poster seeking help on my eating choices. I'm 5' 8", approx 165 lbs and have been taking Alli for 1 1/2 months (doc ok's this). I am hypoglycemic as well, so my food choices have been low fat, relatively low to moderate carb intake. I recently had trouble with my monthly cycle and my doc ordered blood tests. Turns out my insulin is high (47) and is wreaking havoc on my...

So, I’ve been trying to loose weight using calorie counting, exercise, and the good old food pyramid. Background info if it changes anything: I’m 21, 175lb, 5’4”. Everywhere I read says to consume at least 1200 calories/day or your body will go into ‘starvation mode’ and your metabolism will slow down. I eat 4 healthy and filling meals a day and just barely reach 1100 calories. But, according ...

Hi, I just picked up a copy of the new South Beach Supercharged and looking through the daily diets, I see that tomato juice is listed each day at breakfast. Is there a reason for this? Does it affect digestion or help speed weight loss or something? Since i am NOT a fan I was hoping to skip it! Thanks!

I have a pretty nasty sweet tooth. There are times when I do well and don't indulge too much, but other times the craving is too intense, and I have to give in, and give in a lot. That said, I do not drink pop or artificially sweetened drinks. I mostly drink water, a couple of iced tea every now and then, same for hot tea, both unsweetened. Is it worse for blood sugar levels if one drinks a ...

I know this is a crazy question that seems obvious, but....How bad are Fritos really for you? They have three ingredients, corn, corn oil and salt. If eaten in moderation, are these ok to keep on my 'indulge sometimes' list or should they be banished to the 'in another lifetime' catagory?
