Birth Control Question - GYN...
Published (2009-11-24 08:56:22)
Replying to: Birth Control Question Menstrual periods are triggered when one stops taking the "active" pills and go onto the placebo pills. Beginning menstruation today after starting the placebo pills on Friday is the correct timing for this. Keep in mind that while your menstrual period may have been irregular before beginning these birth control pills, it will be the hormones on these that will trigger your menstrual cycles, not...

Replying to: My Mom's Closed Cervix Dear creynosa: Thanks for writing on behalf of your mother--that is so great of you. Yes, as women age the opening of the cervical canal gets smaller. This is especially pronounced in a woman who has never had a vaginal birth (eg only C-sections, or never pregnant). It can be more pronounced in a postmenopausal woman who is not using either vaginal estrogen or regular hormone replacement therapy....

Replying to: issues with trying for 2nd baby The first day is when you have red flow, not spotting. I am guessing it *could* take your body some time to get back to an ovulating cycle after stopping breastfeeding. That said, some women get pregnant while feeding. It's anyone's guess what may happen with you.

Replying to: I have a question about my period it may be related to stress. this has happened to me before and when my stress level went down i noticed that things were back to normal for the next month. if this is concerning you to the point where this is getting you very stressed, call your GYN and discuss your options. irregular periods may also be corrected by birth control pills, and this is one thing i would discuss for options. again,...

could i be pregnant? - GYN...
Published (2009-11-19 00:00:00)
I started my last period on November 9, it lasted about 5-6 days. I haven't been taking my birth control and I'm not sure when I should be ovulating. I know that sperm are viable for up to 3 days, but I'm still unsure. I woke up this morning with a headache and I felt a little nauseated ( sorry if spelled wrong). I have two beautiful children, but they both almost killed me when I was pregnant and giving birth, so it would be a...

Replying to: Please help me get preganant
Have you discussed the matter of tubal ligation reversal with the physician who did this procedure? Another option is invitro fertilization using one of your extracted eggs or a donor egg...but this can be quite expensive to undertake. Gail

Replying to: wondering abt period possibly preg
Not necessarily. IF you happen to have been ovulating at the time (unusual but not unheard of), conception could have taken place and you could have still started menstruation. Remember that conception occurs in the fallopian tubes and it takes (roughly) five days for the fertilized egg to continue down until it finally implants in the ...

Replying to: Can't reach my doctor.....
Dear citranella: The easy part first, OK? Generally the type of bleeding you describe is not linked to decreased effectiveness of your birth control pills (BCPs). The one notable exception would be if you started to use a medication with clearly proven impact on BCPs (eg Rifampin , phenobarbital, Dilantin, Tegretol, Mysoline). In that case sudden ...

Replying to: Yeast Infection
Dear Godschild: You are correct, there is a subgroup of women who have chronic and recurrent yeast infections. It is important to document that these infections are truly candida (yeast). Other infections such as lactobacilli vaginitis can masquerade as yeast, but yeast medications will NOT provide any lasting relief. Certain dermatologic conditions of the ...

Replying to: tenderness
Dear madeline: Breast tissue extends up into the arm pit area--so the entire area of the breast is actually shaped like a comma. This would mean that if you normally have breast tenderness before menstruation, that tenderness can extend to the arm pit. When a woman is pregnant or nursing she can get tissue enlargement up into the arm pit. What is most striking ...

Replying to: In desperate need of answers
If I were you I would go to the doctors and explain this to him/her. Have them do a full blood panel on you and check you for all STD's. If you feel comfortable with the thoughts of getting a second opinion from another medical facility I would also do that. I never heard of anything like this but it does sound like you need medical attention. ...

hey, sorry to hear about the situation, if I were you I would either find a specialist or ask your docter to refer you to a specialist and get some opinions.

Replying to: Plan B question
Plan B is simply a higher dose of the same hormones you find in your birth control pills. Thus, there is no way they would make your own birth control pills LESS effective. Gail

Replying to: It Hurts!
Find a specialist, it may take a month or so to get in to see the specialist but you need someone to do a vaginal sonnagram or something. Cervical pain during intercourse can mean a number of things from herpes, to HPV to PID or endometriosis. If you are experiencing nausea then I think you can obviously rule out herpes or any of that. Is nausea the only other ...

Replying to: Pregnancy and Periods
The answer at to whether you are pregnant is...it depends. Remember that conception occurs in the fallopian tubes. It takes (roughly) five days for the fertilized egg to travel down these tubes, enter the uterus and implant. Until this occurs, the body is unaware that pregnancy has taken place. So...IF a woman ovulated late in her cycle AND had ...

Replying to: endometrial ablation
Dear Mary: I have not had an ablation myself, but I can share the reasons why I would have an ablation over a hysterectomy if given the choice. The uterus acts as a support for other pelvic organs such as the bladder. After a hyst the bladder has a greater chance of "dropping" down as does the back wall of the vagina. For some women sexual response is ...

It sounds like you underwent a Colposcopy to remove these cells (a colonoscopy involves the colon). Having this should not affect your ability to become pregnant. Gail

I'm glad to hear that you are going to your gyno, possible causes could be HPV with genital warts. I know this sounds horrible, but it can be taken care of. My sister had this and her gyno froze the warts off
