Replying to: Gerd Hiatel Hernia and Cancer Risk? Devin, your risk is unfortunately higher than that of the general population. Given the changes that are currently going on in your esophagus, it could mean that you may be facing problems in the future unless you can get the situation under control. So if you haven't made all of the lifestyle and dietary changes that you can to try to '...

My grandmother is 91 and has been diagnosed with dysphagia. She seems to have a pill lodged in her esptohagus which is already very narrow (this is what the barium swallowing test has shown). She has been put on a liquid diet and is faced with the choice of an endoscopy and peg tube for feeding. Her esophagus is already irritated and years ago she had it stretched but because of her age our ...

Hello, fellow GERD and LPR-sufferers. I thought I might see if anyone could recommend anything, or share a similar experience, as the one that I experience on a daily basis. Long-story-short, I'm a GERD and LPR sufferer, and have been for the past 10 years. After seeing numerous doctors and ENT's, I finally has the Nissin Fundoplication surgery in 2006. I'm a voiceover artist and my ...

Replying to: (Bravo PH) Danger!!! Warning!!! Chris, either you or another person posted almost the exact same message some time ago. I know at that time I asked why this test is so dangerous and received no answer. Would you care to answer that question now, for everyone on the board to read? I have had a muscle like pain in the right side of my stomach. It seems to be related to gas. Does anyone else experience this sort of symptom? Thanks

So in January I was diagnosed with acid reflux, hiatal hernia, and barrett's. I went to the doctor because I could not hold down food. I went to the doc he did the EDG and gave me the diagnosis. SO he put me on Nexium and it worked for a while. Last week I could not hold food down at all. Now he put me on Zegerid and I only throw up once every day or so, but it is driving me crazy. Of ...

I've recently been reading more and more articles on how an alkaline diet might help mitigate or eliminate symptoms of GERD. Has anyone actually tried this, and did you have any success? I noticed there are a few books out on the topic and plan to review them. Would love to hear of anyone's experience with this as a possible solution to relieve symptoms.

I have been having trouble swallowing since May. Was just diagnosed with GERD. My doctor really hasn't explained a thing to me, so looked on the internet for my info. Of course, now I am terrified that I will get esophagus cancer. Have an appointment next week with GI. I am having a lot of problems figuring out what triggers my throat problems. I think coffee and diet soda, maybe. I am ...

My doctor prescribed protonix for my choking. Food would get caught in my throat and would not go down. Went to emergency rooms several times to remove clog. I have had a scope down my throat as well. Dr prescribed protonix. I have been taking for 2 years, has cleared up my problem; however, am on a fixed income and there is no generic for this drug in the US (I've been told) and the cost is $...

"Moderately severe gastriris found in the antrum, body of the stomach, and fundus" Also maybe suspected Eosinophilic Esophagitis. Everything else normal. Took lots of biopsies. Any one else have these problems and how did you resolve it? My major symptoms are: I burp constantly after eating, drinking, difficultly swallowing (liquids get "stuck"). I have been on zegerid for 1 1/2 years,...
