Does anyone know if UC lowers the chances of getting pregnant? I've had mixed responses from my doctor's. My family doctor says that my chances of getting pregnant may have lowered due to my UC and also due to the surgeries I've had to treat it (Colostomy, removal of part of the colon, reverse colostomy). I now have two hernias from last year's surgeries and don't know if all this has any ...

I know a lot of us have other health problems that are unrelated to the Crohn's/UC or are results of treatment for those conditions. How do you manage treatment for those other conditions? Does your primary care doc have a good grasp of your IBD or do you need to do a lot of jockeying and reminding? -- ~Louise Senior Community Moderator Weight Loss Clinic ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ ...

Replying to: Worried to have a colonoscopy. It is Ok to be anxious. However, you are doing the right thing by having the colonoscopy. That would be one of the only ways to tell if something is not right. Keep the appointment and be sure to talk to your doctor about your concerns. Best of luck! Jody

Replying to: Rectovaginal fistula Mindy, I know how you feel.I've had quite a few of these when I was suffering with Crohns Disease. I had 1 bad surgery for this and it came back. When I found the right Dr. he fixed me right up, I never had a problem after that. I hope your taking the prednisone in the morning, that might make you sleep better. I hope you feel better Kate kjjmoyock@...

I saw my hemotologist and asked him about the 6MP. He told me to go ahead with it. He said that the side effects can be dealt with. I had to have a special blood test today. I had it done 2 weeks ago but the lab messed it up so the sample wasn't useable. I found a new lab and I hope the results will be ready in a few days. After that I get to go back to my Gastro and get this started. ...

Dear fellow UC sufferers: I am a fellow sufferer for over 30 years, having gotten ulcerative colitis in my early teens. My life has been, how can I put one it: one long suffering black hole. I stumbled upon a treatment which has changed my life: Olive Oil. Every night without fail I fill an 60cc enema bottle with half olive oil and half Rowasa. For several nights, my colitis remained ...

Replying to: Tummy Troubles and Parenting Absolutely! Especially with my son. Last summer, when he was 3, he had a lot of vomiting and diarrhea that lasted for a couple of months. He ended up getting scoped (normal results), and tested positive for the Crohns genetic marker (blood test). I was told that he will, at some point in his life, develop the disease. We just do not know when...

Replying to: remicade, humria, cimiza Hi - I read your post and felt impelled to respond. First of all, I don't remember life without prednisone - It's been that long because the dr. determined I'm steroid-dependant, so I know what you're going thru. Plus, I've had two surgeries as well. The dr. said I don't have to worry about having anymore surgeries because they don't do me any good....

Hello. I have never really used a medical forum before, but I feel that my battle with this unknown illness for the past 19 days merits some investigation. It's a long story I'm sorry but please take the time to read it if you can. Starting on my birthday (sept. 11th) I started getting sick immediately after finishing dinner at a mexican restaurant in town. I felt nauseous and went to the ...

Hello, We're baffled and really trying to figure out what's going on with my daughter. This is her seventh day of diarrhea (sometimes bloody and mucousy) with stomach cramping. She has been to the doctor twice and has had 4 cultures done. We're waiting on the final three results but it takes so long to get these results back and, after reading about the conditions they're testing for, it just ...

Replying to: intususseptions surgery Intussusception is fairly rare in adults and usually is related to some particular cause, cancer, malignant lesions, melanomas, (I am guessing that your son has had all of those ruled out--but he might want to check) IBD, diverticulitis, etc ...except a good percentage of the ones in the small bowel. 20% of those are "idiopathic" or as I tend to say the...

Replying to: ultrasound today Hi Grammycarol, Thank you for the input. I spoke with my doc today and was told that the ultrasound on the abdomin showed no gallstones. However now I'm to get a gallbladder scan ( nuclear medicine test) to check the function of the gallbladder. So will see the outcome of this test. Have you ever had a gallbladder function test? Hope you continue to ...
