My 38-year-old sister was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer nearly 3 years ago and, at the time, had surgery to remove the largest cancer mass in her descending colon. Needless to say, the cancer had metasticized to other organs and, despite encouraging results, continues to grow. She is now near the end of her journey. Her doctor is giving her one last regimen of Folfox4 before ...

Good day to all On September 12 I went in and got a colonoscopy – I have suffered from constipation since I can remember. They found a pallop and when I got my results the DR told me that it was an underdeveloped cancerous cell and that I have to go back and repeat the procedure in 3 years… my thing is that since the procedure I have been bleeding every time I go to the bathroom… the DR ...

My Mother had colon surgery three weeks ago, along with a mastectomy. She has been released to a skilled nursing facility for rehabilitation before she takes chemo. She is 83. When she entered the hospital she weighed @ 125 lbs. When she entered the rehab center yesterday they weighed her at 176.6 lbs! How can she have retained over 50 lbs of fluid in just three weeks and how can she ...

Hi, I have posted and replied to posts on this board for about a year. I was dx with stage III colon cancer in 2005. In 2007 I had a recurrence in my liver. My question is, if I was originally dx as stage III, does it stay that stage even if it metastases? I wasn't sure if it changed to a stage IV once it metastasizes down the road. Right now I'm 20 mos out from the surgery to remove ...

I have stage 3 lower rectal cancer. Just finished radiation with chemo and surgery in 3 weeks. My oncologist is suggesting I consider removal of the rectum and colon as large rectal tumor, several polyps removed from colon, plus heretetary gene (grandfather, mother and 1 sister had same cancer) . Says removal would greatly increase chances for cure and reoccurance. The last I spoke to the ...

My wife needs to go in for a colonoscopy, however she will not go unless I am permitted to be there during the procedure. The desk clerk at the doctors office (nasty) has informed me that it isn't allowed. (tried to tell me it was the "law" (it isn't a "law" -- trust me.) Anyway... she won't do it unless I'm there... Were you allowed to have a loved one there during it? What can I do? ...
