rotccapt - Since my reply is all about your motor, I posted it in your 'axi 2208 rewind' thread in the 'Brushless Motor Construction' forum. I just dont want to double post, plus I want to keep your AXI thread as informative as possible as not many AXI rewind threads are out there. link to your thread below. http://www.wattflyer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=51932 wingnutt.

Thanks Chellie, I'll most likely have to use a 1.75" to 2" aluminum spinner being that the rpm will be in the 24,000 range. Steve, I'm looking for 150+. Calcs show with a 7X7 or 7X8 should have pitch speeds around 160 with 2+ to 1 thrust to weight and around 500 watts per pound. FUN! Scott

Hi , the cnc airfoils to get me started are the sipskill and the and the mh60, as far as i can tell they should be basically easy( ish) to have a try at hotwiring , ive also asked him to try and cut out a mjz1211 inner profile with a blend in the middle and an mh45 tip , itll probably crash and burn lol . I bought some cheap polyfoam from b&q to test on and if they turn out ok ill try them in epp. Fingers crossed i dont burn the house...

Excuse my ignorance but how do you adapt a prop to this motor's shaft? Oops! I see the answer above... I have a 40amp ESC and tons of 1500-1800mah Lipos. Was wandering how to determine what engine to use if you know the weight of the aircraft? I was looking at the Synapse by GP but was concerned about the weight with the battery motor combo. Thanks.

Hi Nikzan, that's a good project and it's great that it worked out so well for you. I'm thinking of building a wing in the future, possibly the Horton brothers one. Sorting out the motor setup will be the interesting bit. Barry

rotccapt - the design looks great! I like how you took advantage of the bat-tail design method. If the 4" chord is including the elevons, I would suggest bumping it up to 5"-5.5". Using the Zagnutz build methodology would make it difficult to get a decent tip foil shape. Also, having that narrow of tip chord will be much more prone to tip stall than a larger chord. Just my $0.02. ...

Recently I bought a lightly used glow Diamond Dust and decided to do an E conversion. I already have a power system I'll use from my helicopter. A Neu 1907-1.5Y, CC HV85 , on 8S1p 2650 30c(supposedly) packs. Plane : 34.5" span , 575 sq.in. It will take a little surgery but should be fun. Here's a couple of pics of the motor and my overbuilt mount and the plane with power system ...
