The ParkZone SuperCub (SC) is hard to beat. Your local hobby shop (LHS) will have replacement parts. If it breaks in half you can glue it back together with Super Glue (CA) and reinforced packing tape and put it right back in the air. This plane has been used by the majority of newcomers in the last few years. When you go to the hobby shop, look for the Lipo (LP) version. The decals are blue. The package includes your radio, receiver,...

Chellie, Insomniac . . . . y'all just made it to the top of my Christmas list! Y ou have both given me a wealth of info that I can use and tells me what questions to ask next. I thank you! Insomniac, he did bring a charger which is a WattAge PF-12 for the Ni-Cd and Ni-Mh batteries. Found a owners manual on-line but will still have to fiddle with it to figure it out properly. I know the Lipo battery required its own charger and have found...

Or if you have a pc gamepad with dual analogue sticks, then you can use FMS, which is free. Their site seems to be down at the moment though.

Yes, I understand the CR issues. Luckily Pd1 has been willing to share (over a two year period) his build, ideas, insights and tricks as well as his drawings to quite a few who subscribed to that thread. It has been hashed, rehashed and whatever but the general design stays about the same. Best of luck with your build, thought you might get some good info from those who have done a very similar project. CC Signing off from the right coast (its...

Any comments on this set-up?

Should be about 140 watts per pound, so the power thing is covered pretty well I would go with the UBEC since it will save a lot of weight on a plane this size. Then you never have to wory about the RX batterys condition. Or, with the first review guys All Up Weight (HC is notorious for overstating the weight of things) You are lookling at 213 watts per pound, wear a helmet!

Hi Jim and Welcome to Wattflyers and Happy Holidays to You and Yours, it looks like the motors that you have are brush motors with gear boxes, Its best to not use those, Reason being, they are low on power, can only use about 9 volts, and gear boxes are a pain and noisy, if you could list and take some pics of what you have, myself and others can point you in the right direction,
Its best ...

Hi Guys :
The thought just occured to me? Will all the simulators still work in the
near future when Microsoft starts selling Vista to replace XP? Also what

Tell him that rubber powered models are a recognized form of model aircraft by the A.M.A. (J/K, although it is true, they are).
The easiest beginner flyers are probably the pod and boom planes, like the AeroBird-3. I have heard that the Cub and SuperCub (also by Park Zone) are also very forgving flyers, I know from experience that the Easy Star is, and it has the additional benefit of ...

Nice job interesting setup for the lights looks nice and bright never would of thought to scavenge lights from those different item's. Are the lights drawing off your flight pack, or a different battery? Flying at night is fun it has been to cold up here for me to go out and fly.

I've just seen a few comments about not using balsa as a beginner plane in another thread. I did not want to go off topic in that thread so I figured it would be best to start another.
I'd like to point out that one should not be afraid of balsa built airplanes as a beginner plane. This has been the building material of choice for many, many years and continues to be used to make wonderful...

Welcome to WF Andrei, the Supercub is a great first plane. Even though it has a brushed motor it flies quite well.
