I had a special Japanese good luck charm which I got from the local shrine early this year. Called "O-Mamori" in Japanese. Unfortunately I lost it somewhere a few months back so I must get another one next New Year\'s Day, that\'s when people buy them here. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Omamori

Got any (non-watch) family heirlooms around your place? When we had to clean up my mother\'s apartment during her final illness, I did get something that\'s been in the family a while. Mother had this china cabinet for 50 years or so, and it was pretty old when she got it. I figure it dates back to around 1900. It just fit in the back of my Jeep Compass so I brought it home. Its about 5 feet ...

today and heard a fact that still leaves me wondering.. How big is a trillion dollars? A "1" followed by twelve zeros, fair enough. But to put it into perspective, if you spent one million dollars every day, it would take you 2740 years to personally burn through a trillion bucks. Just about as long as some of the Egyptian pyramids have been around. Takes your breath away.

We got a set of crappy JA Hinkle (or something like that) knives purchased at Target for our wedding and they don't hold an edge for crap.... Anyone have a suggestion for a decent, affordable ($300 range), block set of kitchen knives? I was looking at some of the Victorinox sets but $800 for the forged ones is a bit steep....

Any people here work in the trades? I am a plumber and have a residential business. It is a family business my Father started in 1955-6 and I am now semi-retired and the last in the family line to work it. It will die with me, sorry dad, everyone wants to work on computers now. Best, Frank

Well I thought I would give one of these threads a go. Seen as it's supposed to be the most important meal of the day.....what's everyone having for breakfast?
I've just had a Big Scottish from my local Morrisons supermarket. Not really healthy, but mighty tasty.
Oh, and there is bacon under the egg as well.

Yes... generally, when I am wearing business/ dress/ whatever shirts, I wear cufflinks. I need to get some tailored or fitted ones, as all the shirts that I have have 37" sleeves and I wear about a 39". I also need to get ones with slightly bigger cuffs-' + '- to better accommodate my Breitling. The question begged, naturally: should your watch match your links?
