First off I know this is in the wrong spot. I'm doing this on purpose really, because I know most people on this forum don't really check the contest forum all that often. As of late I have notice an overwhelming amount of posts pertaining to "wanting to get big" or "wanting to get strong" "want to bulk" blah blah blah. The forums are littered with them. Well as the winter months approach ...

Hey all, I stopped lifting for a few years and got back into it about 6 months ago. I feel like something is off. Basically, I think that my deadlift and squat are really lagging. Let me know what you all think of these numbers for my most recent workouts (I have converted to lbs because that is what I see a lot of in this forum): Squat: 3x5 with 264 lbs Deadlift: 2x5 with 264 lbs ...

Got a cool story to share with everyone that demonstrates the power of the mind! I hired a quality personal trainer (cross fit style) a few months back and weve been making great progress and adding weight to the bar each week. Yesterday was always going to be a tough one starting with 6 sets of dead lifts, 6 reps each set - stripping the weight down a touch after each set and only ...

Hello all. I had a fantastic workout today. I broke through some plateaus on my squat and deadlift. I successfully squated 225 and deadlifted 185, each for 2 sets of 3. I've got really bad hips and knees so even though the weight is low as compared to many here, it's like a miracle to me. My success was due to realizing that I was still overtraining. I'm now at the point where if I ...

do i continue with 3 sets and 5 reps for along time or can I up the reps or sets, or will this lead to over training? just wondering because I have been 5 reps and 3 sets because I didn't read it right so i just corrected myself the other day,

I really just want to increase my size a little, I have been taking halodrol-50, and all of the essentials like protein, I even do casein sometimes, I have been working out for over a year and other than the gains I saw within the first few months I haven't seen any at all since, I am losing interest and motivation because I don't see anything happening. I have good form and I constantly try ...

Is it necessary to touch the chest with the bar on incline bench press? I have long arms so the ROM is large, just want to make sure.

I took the summer off of working out between high school and college because I was working 60 hours a week. In high school I could bench 255 and I hit 185 15 times. Now I cant hit 185 4 times. I have worked out harder than I did in high school for the past 3 weeks and still cant get back into it. This isnt the first time I have taken a summer off and it has never taken me this long to get ...

My 5RM goals are: Squat - 405 lbs. (4 plates) Deadlift - 495 lbs. (5 plates) Bench - 315 lbs. (3 plates) My current 5 RM's are Squat - 260 lbs. Deadlift - 350 lbs. Bench - 220 lbs. I like 5RM's better then 1RM's I don't know why. I guess I just don't have that powerlifter mentality. But these are my goals. I want to hit all these eventually. How about ...

At what age would you say a weight lifter reaches his prime? Also, once one reaches their prime, how long can they usually maintain their strength? I've googled this, and get different answers so I just wanted the opinion of some of the lifters in here.

My arms are 12 inches around when flexed (biggest distance around) and they are a lot smaller compared to my pecks which are visibly big and my abs which are just plain visible. Do I keep going about my business or do I need to specialize my routine?

Like a few other members here... I just got done with the "up your bench press in 30 days" routine and increased my bench 20 lbs.! I would like another routine that has proven results, as I have been told my old splits are over training myself. Before everyone tells me to do Rippetoes SS, I am not a beginner, and also not an expert though... here is my old routine.... 3X5 DB ...

I weigh 144, 5'8 and want to get cut... I lift about 3 times a week, maybe more depending on how i feel. I've been doing higher reps low weight...Although, my main focus is getting abs, because it's something i've never had and want to achieve. I'm ver determined. When doing high reps, we know when we've worked our muscle. We can feel the burning sensation, our muscle has the pump. Eventually if you keep going you cannot do any more. When doing low reps high weight, our muscles react differently. I am trying to describe what it is. For me, it feels like my muscles are weak and depleted. There is no pump, but they just feel tired in a sense. After a ...
