C70 Dump Valve Help
Published (2009-11-04 00:00:00)
hmm i'm not sure if the ME7 will be happy with a BOV the valve itself wants to be as close to the throttle butterfly as possibly, which in you case is under the intake manifold & wants to be T-piece'd into the big pipe going to it. the small vac pipe for the BOV wants to go to the vac tree (have ME7's got them?) for best results you'll want to get a Forge recirc blanking plate so you can remove the standard recirc...

Just googled it and some guy wrote this..... "It means you are having a fault in either your traction control system, stability control system or the braking/ABS system. You will need to have the system scanned to indicate where the problem lies. Most common problem would be a wheel speed sensor."

ABS comes on a any speed
Published (2009-11-04 00:00:00)
As the title says ive a problem with the ABS on my V70 P1. Basically at any speed and any type of breaking the ABS comes on,. All discs and pads have been replaced within the last six months and ive been driving about with the ABS fuse removed which is fine but with my MOT in a couple of months i think its time to get this sorted. Anyway someone mentioned the ABS speed rings (?) on the driveshafts or the sensors, does that sound right?

It is EXTREMELY LIKELY to be an ABS ECU fault - dry solder joints most often. There are some very comprehensive threads on this common problem. Some dare to do it themselves (see P_fandango) but there is a bloke on ebay who does the repair for £80 (or offers) p&p included. I first discovered this problem some years ago. ABS light was intermittent, took it to garage who diagnosed rear sensor fault. They replaced rear sensors, problem...

My suggestion is to get the fault codes read to find out exactly why the light is on. There has to be a code generated for the light to come on. Thats what these codes are for, everything else is just a guess. Simon

Time for a clutch
Published (2009-11-08 00:00:00)
Hahahahaha Welcome to my world matey (especially with AWD!) Best thing to do is remove the engine and subframe from the car (lift the car off). I've changed my clutch twice (went within a year) and had my engine out 3 times now, latest was to replace my gearbox because the output for the angle gear was shagged. See threads http://www.vpcuk.org/forums/showthread.php?t=16939 http://www.vpcuk.org/forums/showthread.php?t=24549 No real special...

Shine a light! Thought I would be able to remove the box and do it with the engine still in the car. Dropping the sub frame is not on as I am working on the street. Are you saying that its not possible to do it in the car, or just that it is more difficult? jim

Brake Pedal Sensor....
Published (2009-10-31 00:00:00)
Nathan My brake pedal position sensor failed on mine and cruise wasnt working, i got a spare from Salvo at the time for about £11. The new sensors are quite pricey. They are fitted on the front of the brake servo (think thats the right terminology) and are held in place by a circlip so easy to replace. http://www.vpcuk.org/forums/showthread.php?t=23392 - 'RobbieH' bought one recently. My ETS light has flickered on a couple of times on and off - but usually is gone again when i start it later.
I take it this is the throttle body? if it is, i had mine cleaned a couple of months ago - and its been bob on since, revs have evened out and fall quicker ect. Was the cheaper alternative out of the two.

If the warning light has come on then the system has detected a fault, best
to get the codes read first and then try deleting it. Sometimes the o2
sensors can get a bit crapped up and generate a fault, it may just go
away...it may not.

Yes getting into the boot via the rear seats, isn't a problem, except for my 6'2" 17stone frame, it's what to do with the locking mechanism when I do get in.
The cord is firmly wedge and if I cut it it will still be stuck in the lock.
I will have another crack it at this morning, wish me luck.
