Welcome to Matthew's Volvo Site. There are several hoses that would give the appearance of a leak under the engine. None of them are under the engine so you should be able to see where the water is coming from. Quote: change my thermostat but the two screws are stripped Are the screws themselves stripped or is it the holes they go into? Is it possible that this is where the water is leaking if they have been partially released? Bill.

Been reading in other forums that the P0237 code usually means a bad MAP sensor. Going to try replacing that along with the boost controller. Will report back when it is replaced.

Perfect Thank you very much!! for that quick response and the welcome to this great website. Another quick question currently my brakes are very worn out the thing is that the house DEALER is really expensive just for that changing the pads can those pads be changed by any mechanic or does it have to be volvo certified?. thanks again. billofdurham wrote: Welcome to Matthew's Volvo Site. 1. I'm still having the same problem. When the engine gets hot, something in the electrical system is preventing the starter relay from getting a ground. As far as I can see the ground comes from the immobilizer unit, why it come from there I don't understand. I have changed the starter and the engine speed sensor. still the same problem. I am able to rapidly cool the engine speed sensor then start the car. This is why I changed the...

2002 s40 1.9T Timing HELP!!
Published (2009-11-21 06:13:00)
Started a timing belt change following instructions I found somewhere on line. Got down to the point where it told me to remove the the crank pulley. (I found later where I didn't really need to remove the pulley!!) Under the car with a long bar trying to break the nut loose and felt and heard a couple of "clicks". Didn't think too much about it at 1st but then realized I could get the belt off without taking the...

2002 s40 1.9T Timing HELP!!
Published (2009-11-22 21:27:00)
Its best to make sure the cams and crank are lined up correctly before going forward with the prodedure. make sure to relieve the variable valve timing tension by turning the crank forwards and then backwards per the procedure. After you have done that the timing marks shoud be aligned. If not you will need to correct things before moving forward. Once finished replacing the belt, tensioners pulley etc, just line up everything per the procedure...

03 S40, keyless entry not working
Published (2009-11-24 12:13:00)
I've read pretty deep and couldn't find info for my specific car. 2003 S40, switchblade type keys. Keyless entry stopped working, so I put a brand new battery in. Still doesn't work. My other remote also doesn't work, haven't changed that battery yet. I'm not interested in going to the dealer. Can I reprogram using the 5-times turning the key method? I also understand there's a receiver or antenna that...

Very nice! Guess it's time I post the S70. I don't really have a good picture of my wife's V70 or son's 850. Anyway, here's my beast: Attachment:

Welcome to Matthew's Volvo Site. 1. When the AC is engaged the idle speed is automatically increased to help power it. Higher idle speed means the car is more eager to get under way. Knock it into neutral when you are stationary. 2. This is a possibility. The air conditioner is designed to operate using an electromagnetic clutch assembly that receives a command signal from the activation switch...

I have a 2002 Volvo S40 with 135K miles. Until recently the engine has been great with an average of 30MPG. The last month or so under full throttle, the car has started missing and sometimes the check engine light is blinking but no codes are stored. In the last week it has gotten worse and sometimes starting from a signal, the car just sits there for 3 or 4 seconds (similar to a carb loading up...
