Role models

But do, or should, we hold these role models to the same or a different standard than we hold ourselves? ~ they are human, just like we are ~ and they make judgment errors, just like we do ~ so does their "role model status" entitle them to less or more "wiggle room" than we allow ourselves? ~ Tiger is a pheonomenal golfer and a generous humanitarian, made possible by his talent ~ does that talent and...

Role models

There are many people who don't provide healthcare or cure cancer who can be role models for people. It's a good thing when someone who is a sports star also can be a good role model for people. It doesn't mean they are better than anyone else - it just means that they can encourage people to excel in whatever field they choose. Woods is valuable to companies for that reason - I don't begrudge him the money he has made...

I am sorry that you find this so funny, I don't, at all. yes, it is difficult to get government figures to work in an easy manner, it is set up that way, to keep us stupid. I also have only limited time, and room, to provide the information required. me, I don't really need to see the numbers, graphs, OMB, CBO, and other monitoring agencies, I only have to look at what is being proposed, the money quips that are being bantered, the...

Until conservatives once again hold Republicans to the same standard they hold Democrats, they will have no credibility and deserve no respect. They can start building some by admitting to themselves that Bush caused many of the problems they are protesting. Fat chance of that ever happening. They'd rather scream "Drill Baby Drill!"

I have a lot more respect for Obama and his actually listening to the military (which I never felt Bush truly did). Of course that does not change my opinion of his spending, of his health plan, of his socialization of banking and auto making.. If you can not succeed, than you should FAIL.. are you listening USPS! 234 years to get it right.. and you still suck, and y'all are broke to boot! For a rightwinger, you're downright...

You know, he really is a fascinating study. His voice patterns...what do they remind you of? The dramatic pauses, the hand gestures, the modulated voice, booming, then soft and controlled... He's a preacher. I would bet dollars to donuts, he has studied the T.V. evangelists on how to effectively work an audience. Since it's the same audience, essentially, I'm sure that he's plugging into people on a level of subconscious...

Bob, The economic situation we are in is not funny at all. It is tragic and disgraceful. It can be said by myself, as honestly and as factually, as you say it about yourself. I don't need to have each and every number, and each and every dollar expenditure spelled out for me. I didn't need it during the Bush years, and I don't need it now. But, if someone is going to to address the numbers, they should do in a way that...

I continuously rage against role models. The public knows what is presented to them and Tiger was a skinny, nonthreatening looking black guy playing a white
guy's game. The advertisers knew that was golden.

And they didn't look too happy either...
I listened to the speech and as much as Obama has a way of lighting a fire under people, he also knows when to put aside the rhetoric and get down to the
issues. Last night's speech did that very well. One of the main reasons why I was supportive of Obama from the very beginning had to do with his perception
of the war in Afghanistan. He said from the ...

Empathy is fickle among a middle class that's a taste of the lifestyle they foisted on the less-fortunate when times were good. How long after things turn
