There are now 125 Kakapo. Recent attempts of
conservation are now reaping rewards with a large batch of eggs successfully hatching in the last year. I've never heard of the deadly bacteria this article mentions (perhaps it was in reference to some rare frogs). The Kakapo are an amzing impressive bird, once you 'meet' one you'll never forget it.
