Try this: Open the Default Programs applet, which you can access either from the Start menu or via the Control Panel, then click the first item: "Set your default programs." After a few seconds, a list of programs comes up. Click on "Windows Contacts". If it doesn't respond with "This program has all its defaults" then fix it by clicking on the option indicated by the first green arrow....

Suddenly yesterday it turned out to be impossible to retrieve and send email via Windows mail.I did not change anything in my settings. I contacted my provider, attglobal, who worked 36 hrs on it.Spent 4 hrs . on the phone with their helpdesk.Now I can check email again through webmail, but not through the ususal Windows Mail setting on my laptop. What happended do you think?My provider ...

When you get that prompt, click Stop or Cancel. That should produce an error message. Right-click on your error message, copy, then paste it into a reply here. We can't do much troubleshooting without the complete error message. Incidentally, if you really mean Windows Live Mail rather than Windows Mail you are posting in the wrong newsgroup.
