i read an old post that discussed this issue but nothing seem to work. So, have some questions to clarify. I down loaded some MP3. Some will copy to a flash drive 2gb which is FAT, another 16gb is exFAT and copied without a hitch but some will not from the hard disk which is NTFS I have some 64gb flash drives and when I went from the NTFS HD to the 64gb. My laptop is fairly new (got it in May) and it came preloaded with Vista Home. Last night, I was on the computer when it froze up. The ONLY thing I did the moment before the blue screen of death appeared was I had got an Apple software update thing and I declined to install it at that moment. It sounds to me that the noise your hearing is just the hard drive searching and it might be taking awhile to find what its looking for therefore the lag. Defrag the machine and see if it helps. start search > cmd > right click the icon > choose run as admin > accept the UAC prompt > type in the command prompt window: defrag %systemdrive% -v -w > press enter now let that run for awhile and then see if...

Hello everyone, I too have the WD external hard drive and have had error messages. Mine says that it's not formatted for NTFS. I have no idea how to format it. I read all of the posts I could find and it all sounds greek to me. I want to do a complete backup for my computer but can't seem to get this vista backup to work for me. Have you checked the batteries in the mouse? I have cursed Microsoft, Bluetooth and Vista until I realized the obvious, although that may not apply to your particular circumstance.
