Water cooling

I'm not particularly happy with the temps of my new Core i7-920 beastie In fact, they are so poor that I've been stopped in my tracks from going any further than just a mild overclock Having looked around, it is apparent that Core i7s are hot processors, at last on air cooling. I'm seriously considering going for watercooling, and I like the look of the Zalman Reserator XT. It's expensive, but should be good for several...

Finding a KVM switch with your specs for under $200 will be difficult. Most KVMs are use for accessing servers, which generally don't need audio, USB, or DVI connections. There are a few that might work in your proce range, but you would need to check the reviews and be able to return the unit if it didn't work out. IOGear has one that might work, and you can check NewEgg for reviews on others....

Alternatives to canned dusters?

Oh yeah - on the desk is the way to go, plus all the controls and jack are at your fingertips! I found even with small bursts, if I have a lot of cleaning to do, the can gets pretty cold.

Hi Cyber Akuma,
There are several DVI, USB KVM switches which feature Audio support. Sadly though, you tend to get what you pay for.
The best switch in my opinion is the Adder AdderView Pro switch which comes in 3 basic types: 4 port single head, 8 port single head or 4 port multihead (dual, triple and quad). This delivers faultless DVI switching, USB and Audio. The key feature though ...

Try replacing your motherboard battery, it sounds like it is on the way out.

For process of elimination,
You can rule out Dell.
Dell typically uses proprietory chassis.

The cable/method of connecting would have nothing to do with performance.
Ther specs of the drives on the other hand, would make a lot of difference:
Performance
Cache 2MB
WRITE Speed
DVD+R 24X
DVD+RW 8X
DVD-R 24X
DVD-RW 6X
CD-R 48X
CD-RW 32X
DVD+R DL 12X
DVD-R DL 12X
DVD-RAM 12X

Anything that blows air and doesn't spit out moisture would work.
They make worthless little vacume cleaners for pc...
I use and old tooth brush and canned air maybe once a year or two... It just depends on how dusty your house is or just how clean you want the pc to be.

During the Linux install, you could delete all partitions.
If you want to wipe the drive, I usually use DBAN or Killdisk. Either one is on UBCD. Link is in my sig.

Of all the systems you've built - which ones haven't come back with mobo issues
ASUS is considered above average by most....So instead of asking you 150 questions about other things like how many mem slots do you perfere...Do you still need to run IDE etc....It might be easier if you just looked at ASUS.
