12 " of snow base with ice underneath. Our group broke out the trail to the summit and back. If you have never hiked this before, the trail is a good workout, and was harder than expected by many in our group. photos at http://www.meetup.com/New-England-Hiking-Meetup/

Lincoln Gap Road closed, of course. About 1 1/4 mile road walk from the east (Warren/Roxbury/Rt 100) side -- packed by snowmobiles, skiers, hikers. I pulled my backpack up in a sled, which I used for a quick descent from the summertime parking lot. 1.8 miles on LT to Battell Shelter -- I broke trail, so now it's been gone over twice, but not packed, so snowshoes still needed. .8 from Battell Trail merger to summit is packed, though done...
