thanks dougpaul - yep, i checked them this morning and indeed there's some snow. going to bag the ice idea in tucks (even though there seems to be some, but doubt it's climbable) and do a snow climb in huntingtons. yale and diagonal look good from a distance. and i'm bringing rock pro also. they should move the camera over so you can see all of tucks. wtf.

Regrettably, this is old news. "Comments must be received by August 1, 2009." I neither like the idea of a fee and reservation process for the Cabot Cabin (you'll never have mixed company up there, it will likely be empty most of the time), nor do see why all the campsites on Gale River Rd, Haystack Rd, and Cherry Mountain Rd should be free.

For the Franconia area today above about 2500-3000', yes. Cannon is reporting 12-18" from the Friday-Saturday storm.

Bretton Woods went from scraping by on three short slopes off the Learning Center Quad (that'd be "bunny slope" to you and me) to a claimed 27 trails today. We were amazed to find snow everywhere, deep, soft snow even where it had been groomed. They got a very lucky bounce out of this storm and are back ahead of the curve.

I would think so. There's tent sites about a mile in and the cabin just below the summit of Alander that's open to the public , so I guess they'd expect you to park somewhere . For what it's worth , I've seen hunters complete with campers stay overnight in that lot before . Try calling ? Dave

www.tuckerman.org had a detailed description how there was still some snow left and it was saturated and refreezing as of today. My guess is everything is icing up really good up high. I am guessing that snowshoes are a no but that microspikes are a go and that we really need some snow...maybe i should just let it go...ahhhh! make it stop

Trails are all in great shape, some small mud spots here and there but nothing to worry about. No ice or snow anywhere, maybe a frozen puddle or two early in the a.m. I live 10 minutes from the Mountain and hike it with the dogs at least weekly sometimes twice(was there yesterday). If you looking for someone to beat around the Mt. with mid week send me a PM. Tom

Since we have had such a dull and mild November in the Whites for weather, the upcoming weather system will be one to watch since it may catch some off guard. Tonight a storm system will develop in response to a pattern shift for the weather in North America. Cold air that has been sitting over China and Siberia, is finally shifting to us, and looks to change our mild weather to normal to start, ...
