Fishin Jimmy is icy is spots but can be carefully avoided (around 3200' to 3400') Kinsman Ridge to the Kinsmans is in terrific shape. Kinsman Ridge to Cannon has some muddy spots and some icy spots that can be carefully avoided, but maybe not into next week. Kinsman Ridge down to the Tram lot is an icy mess when it...

Trails clear of ice and snow except for a couple of black ice patches on the upper corners on the Holt Trail, of all places. Easily avoided once seen. No blowdowns or crossing issues and very little mud. Poles helpful on the leaves in the woods. Another perfect day, comfortable and with clear views to the Presidentials and beyond. Holt Trail is always entertaining and the ramble over Firescrew and down keeps the views going. RickB. and Giff...

There was a sprinkling of snow at the trailhead in the morning that gradually increased with altitude. By 3000' it covered the trail. On the way back it was mostly gone below 2700'. Ice on the trail became evident between 2700' and 3000'. Above the Mispah cutoff it became a real factor. The Webster Cliff trail up Pierce was covered with snow but ice free. Going over to Ike ice was a factor heading down from Pierce and in...

Trail in good shape, no blowdowns. Trail maintenance worker on Piper-Thanks. Ice, dusting of snow within last 1/2 mile around cone. delibrate going, no traction devices needed, but caution needed. Assume that incoming weather will melt everything. Great morning, clouding up later, great views of Washington and Franconia in their snow blankets.

Road to Zealand is still open. The trail was very muddy in lots of places. There is a trace amount of snoww above 3000 ft. We bushwhacked up one way and came down a different way. We went from the summit over to the ledges. Views were awesome, wonderful day. No special equipment needed except for a spirit of adventure. Cinder, Nancy & Joe

Sunday, 11/8/2009. Beautiful day for a hike, a much easier bushwhack than Vose Spur the previous day. Went up the ridge from the South West. A very well defined "trail" has been whis future NEHH hikes.hacked (apparently with a saw and pruners) through the flattish region just before the final ascent (and just before the memorial plaque to the hiker who died on the hike last year, which my hiking partners and I couldn't...
