Steep, but not terrible. There was a recent but limited reprint. Don't know what to say about rarity.

I remember beating IS with the ultimate personae set, in this one is trickier to do so, so I think it will be harder....all depends on the personas you have

You will have to look around for them I'm afraid. The Shin Megami Tensei Wiki is a good start to find a lot of them such as Joker types and such.

Assuming you can find it, play Innocent Sin before his since this is a direct sequel. You don't really need to play Persona 1 to understand the story. A good sized portion of the cast are returning characters from persona 1, but that's largely irrelevant to the story. In Innocent Sin at least, Yukino points out who was in persona 1 for you, so you shouldn't have any trouble in that regard.

Overall, it's a very polished game with a great story and I'm enjoying it quite a bit. It's definitely better than P1. That game was pretty frustrating. The camera is third person view like persona 3&4. The battle system is more like Persona 1 than 3&4, but much less frustrating. It's also entirely easier than all the other Personas. luck is semi-important for mutations... but mutation gear and finishing the battle with fusion spells is far more important...

It's called Persona Rock. ^^ At least that's how it's titled on my soundtrack.
