I'd say 5 because I've never been a fan of the guitar of Rock Band (I play guitar the most), and 4's is not very reliable. But for drums I'd say go with Rock Band 2 because the drums of 4 still aren't that reliable and 5 doesn't have any yet.

Not sure why you'd even want to get subgenre specific in this case, unless you just really like being extremely limited. Ideally, I'd go with Guitar Hero: Metal, since that can cover a very broad array of sounds. Of course, we don't live in an ideal world, and it would probably be pissed all over by being filled with girly -core and nu metal.
