dont get me started on this bulk rice, pasta, potatoes beans chicken, pork, beef - 2 bucks a pound or less frozen veggies, buck a bag you can make a dinner for around a dollar using those ingredients. theoretically eat dinner for a month for around 30 bucks, and you aren't really losing out on too much nutrition (certainly better than alternatives like hamburger helper or fast food or easy mac or whatever it is that people who dont know...

I've been able to make some simple things since I was about 10, but I started to learn to *really* cook when I was about 24.

Well I started when I was a little kid and I am still learning today. I have sort of settled on most of the things I will make and eat on a regular basis, but I still like to try something new now and then, especially for seasonal stuff. I imagine if I ever have a legitimate kitchen to call my own I will expand greatly for a short period of time...but that's further on down the road (where I can't really see so well)

Man v Food

Anyway, it's I've got to sign off now, so it's time to admit that this is an incredibly silly thing to argue about. I was just bored at work and looking for an argument, and this seems as good a subject as any. I sincerely thank nematollah for providing a willing opponent. It's been quite entertaining.

Now that you mention it, the ultimate food is not part of Thanksgiving unless I make dessert with it. I am talking about, of course, peanut butter.

American food is too broad to pin down to a couple of descriptors. Yeah, especially when you consider the fact that 99.9% of American food was derived from other countries with an "American spin" put on it which usually involves more greasy fats, sodium, and sugars.... Sorry if I sound like an American food hating elitist, i'm not, but it's true... And the reason i'm not is because despite that, I still love...

On Sunday, when we're having our big Thanksgiving dinner, I'll be making pecan tarts, pumpkin cheesecake, and chocolate chess pie (basically a chocolate custard pie.) I was really thinking about doing either an apple pie or a pear pie, but 3 pies are going to be more than enough and I decided to do homemade applesauce instead, so everybody can still get their apple fix if they want.
