This Or Dragon Quest V

DQV does have the better game play than DQIV, but I still liked the story of DQIV more. And to be fair, the general consensus is that DQV has the better story between the two DQ games. I still recommend FFIV, but eventually get all 3 because they are all good.

If you need 100k for gil farmer don't buy extra items or gear (especially Mithril gear), remember to unequip Cecil's Dark gear as well as other departing characters and sell it, use the Airship to go to Eblan and loot the chests, got to the Mithril town and loot the Silver staff and iirc there is other stuff to loot there, loot the Toria chests after the Dark Elf. IMO it is very doable and worth it to give Cid Gil Farmer before Zot.

Worst thing about this game

Well, they really don't always take their turns first, though it's true, turn rotation favors monsters unless you're really fast. Suggestion: change to Wait if you're on Active, and lower the battle speed to 2 or 3 if you're at 1. After that, there are many ways around it, like knowing what armors to wear, and knowing what attacks to use. Granted there are a lot of cheap attacks, but if the monsters spam fire breaths,...

Focus = overrated
Published (2009-12-05 15:38:00)
Hahaha I have no wrath to unleash. Most of the guys who've replied so far probably know more than I do. I've been wondering about defense as well. It certainly is an issue in many other games. I think another question is whether the defense gives a percentage or a constant deduction. If the deduction is percentage, then one strong hit or many weak hits will amount to the same. But if the deduction is a constant, then multiple hits...

Worst thing about this game

You're right. But, you don't know which armors to use or which enemies have disabling as priority number 1, until they kill you and lose like 1 hour of gameplay.

Focus = overrated

ignasia7: That is interesting indeed. I wasn't really referring to Haste + Hastemarch, it's interesting to know that there is such a thing as being "too fast". However, regardless if it is, it is not a valid point to say that Focus costs more time because it has a "casting time", in which that very sense, Haste "fixes" this problem. With that said, it is not surprising to see that...

Focus = overrated

In most Square RPGs, Defense is a subtraction rather than a %age. This is why your weaker characters will sometimes do 0 damage, and why strength matters more against high-defense enemies. I'm pretty sure the various versions of FFIV are this way too. I've done one FFIV DS triple-playthrough so far. I did the 3rd playthrough with sol o Cecil, using Focus x3 and Darkness against almost all bosses, and I always just assumed Focus did...

Rainbow pudding AR code
Published (2009-12-05 23:39:00)
Hi there Thanks but that's the code I've been using. I'll try the subscription you suggested. You never know. I'm so sick of the game by this stage, I probably will just go ahead and finish it minus the pudding and related sidequests. I mucked up early on by missing out on things from Palom/Porom anyway. Cheers

Check this code against yours to see if they are the same: Rainbow Pudding 920F2338 000010FF 020F2330 00000000 020F233C EBFC3741 02000048 E59F0000 0200004C E12FFF1E 02000050 00001447 D0000000 00000000 That is for the NTSC version of the game. It makes the pudding drop as an item after battle, no matter what enemy you fight. Sorry, I don't know any PAL codes, but add this address to your ...

Either SBAllen's or Action's. I recommend Action's because I favor his augment distribution plan, but you can't go wrong with either.

Hmm, I'd say Hardtype is roughly equal to this version until the Moon. At the moon, they changed elemental weaknesses to nullify Holy, and really ramped up Enemy stats, making it MUCH harder in the DS version (almost feels like the difference between original SFC and SNES). Anyway, the good thing is, this game changed some mechanics, and while magic damage does less, summons do more, your ...

WHy did it get unstickied? I'm not too sure. I guess he felt like there were enough augment guides to cover the subject and one less sticky topic would be better for the board, but that's just a guess. You can continue the game using the augment guide in Action's walk through. It is very similar to the one that SBAllen made with just a few slight differences (and in my opinion, gives you ...

Ribbon. Even at max level, the Ribbon has higher stats overall, and it has evade% built in. To top things off, in the end-game, magic damage taken can be quite high (or breath attacks), and the Ribbon provides by far the highest Mdef of any helm. Plus, while the Onion Helm has the advantage of a huge speed bonus, this is easily made up for in leveling past 70, even in your first game (unless ...

I thought it was really easy and I didn't use any ethers. Try to sneak in a Spider Silk or Slow spell on him before he paralyzes everyone. Does your Rosa have Dualcast? That helps if you can bring her back to life.
