The PS2 version is (almost) exactly the same, so it really depends on how much you want to spend. Though, I find that the controls of the GC are better than that of the PS2, but the PS2 version has only 1 disk, while the GC has 2. In the end, it's really your choice to make.

Perhaps they released Zero first because they want to release the games in chronological order. There's only one way to find out, and that's waiting for Capcom.

Even if this gets ported to the Wii, there's a big chance that RE2/3 will be ported first, so it'll take 2 years or so if it happens. Though I personally don't see it happen that CV:X gets ported.
