When i know the next room ahead is the dragons lair I always wonder which is going to be first..... The romance interest deciding flirting underneath the dragon is a good idea or lilarcor begging to go kill one.

Lilacor has the best moments in the entire game, he's made me laugh at the very worst of times playing this game and for that I will always adore him and everything he does

Thank you. While I see the two handed swords are great, I really wanted to hear that sword and shield is do able and not too gimped. I will now proceed down that path! I am happy to hear about the mace, too. Gotta have a skeleton smasher!

Done this a bunch of times now, got up to 160, but I keep forgetting groups of spells which stops me from going any further. Silly things like forgetting the level 7 summons, or the symbols.

I will never understand the fascination newbies have with Magic Missile. It's just the quintessential D&D spell. When you think D&D wizard, you think Magic Missile. It could be the absolute worst spell in the game, worse than Know Alignment, worse than Infravision, and people would still be taking it because you just have to have Magic Missile. Also, that one sketch might have something to do with it. You know....

^Yeah. Before I knew about that alarm clock, once my phone wake-up alarm went off to get ready for work (5AM). So it was like, "Oh.. crap. How long have I.. Man, I think I'm too tired to go into work... Lemme play a few more turns and then figure something out." I actually forgot about work and came in late. I'm bad. :( Also, if you have to boot Imoen, at least get her out of the Underdark so she has a chance to...

You're probably thinking of Sarevok's Sword of Chaos +2, a greatsword that also leeches health from the target hit.

There are a couple banshees in that room. The instant death is probably coming from their wailing, and their wailing is a radius of effect spell. Death Ward is a single target only spell, so it will only protect one party member unless you memorize one spell for each party member. The most efficient thing to do is just to protect your main tank and send him in alone to kill the banshees. Keep everyone else back and use ranged support with them.

It's kind of fun, but very hard. Emotion was throwing me off because I think they leave out the Hopelessness part in the spellbook.

Sounds like a good deal to me. BG1 is worth playing, although it has not aged anywhere near as well as BG2. It also sometimes doesn't work on newer computers, but BGTutu can fix that - look up EasyTutu for more information. I played BG2 first (several times) and am only just doing BG1 now - BG1 is very difficult and painful to get started on, so you may actually want to start with the sequel (...

Aerie Sucks IMO. She has her uses but I'd prefer a higher caster level of either class and faster level progression. I'd prefer Amonen or viconica as a cleric and ...Jan as a multiclass mage. if you are limiting your self to non-expac XP you don't get very high on the spell levels. I think you get around level ... 6 or 7 maybe. on the mage side. and if you are going EPIC I prefer a Warrior ...

Well, I had it a total of once, and I was around 1/4-1/3 of the way through Aerie's romance when I picked HD up, though I don't remember where exactly. I had neither Jaheira or Viconia, and I waited quite a bit before picking the tiefling up, as I wanted to be a high enough level to survive the prison. Its most likely a random event.

next step is to get to the castle via the sewers, pay a visit to the local priestess. I believe the entrance to the temple is right near where the would be scuffle was taking place.

Sword and shield style is fine, but if you're a paladin you definitely want to do two-handed swords and two-handed weapon style as well. If you're don't mind a slight spoiler, read on.... **SPOILER** The holy avenger in the game, Carsomyr, is a two-handed greatsword, obtained at the end of the paladin stronghold quests. Depending on your own playthrough, you could get it fairly early on, or ...

The only NPC I can call 'good' is Finch... Tutu NPCs aren't too bad in general, mainly because the game isn't as easy to pull into one direction... other than Gavin who just brings the Emo. Beyond that, NPCs that don't revolve the game around them I can tolerate for not changing the gameplay entirely to be their story.
