You mean Nadia - no, her death is inevitable, sadly ..few of the villagers actually seem to blame him, though. Off the top of my head, there's Bonaire, who I figure was pulling at strings, trying to find someone to blame in his sadness. Giles is basically brainwashed, Myra seems to dislike Alundra from the start, and then blindly buys Giles' scaremongering, and Lutas is a pessimist.

In love with him? The ones that are affectionate, as you will find out, have their reasons, and the rest are simply curious, since he's an outsider; some, like the Mayor, are actually dubious. Anyway, no, though for the most part the villagers are thankful for Alundra's help - he IS a hero, after all - there will be instances where he will be resented by some of them.

Indeed, it is definitely possible. To do it, just run in one direction, when you are ready to change direction let Alundra start his breaking animation and while he's doing it press any directional button and Alundra should run in that direction (even complete 180 degree turns are possible). It's actually pretty easy once you get a feel for it.

I completely agree! I remember, before Working Designs went defunct, I had emailed a representative before asking about a sequel. The representative had said that if people were interested they'd have to get in touch with the company that actually made the game, since Working Designs just translated them and such.
