An elegant soup for the holidays

This is fantastic and will impress company. From Gordon Ramsay. See if you can find pre-peeled chestnuts. A bit pricey but it's such a bother roasting and peeling your own. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/lif...cle3349626.ece

Oil Free Vinegarette Recipe?
Published (2009-12-18 11:24:00)
I have tried a lot but haven't found one yet that I love. Either they're too tart or have too much added sugar. Anyone have a good recipe?

Recs for Pots and Pans

I'm with the others who suggested TJ Maxx or Marshalls, or Ross. These are great stores for finding quality brands at discount prices. I wouldn't get a "set" they always seem to have a size or two I wouldn't ever use. I have limited space so I try to buy only what I'll use. I like non stick for most uses, but cast iron is good for even frying. Also, at least one stainless steel pan is necessary if you ever...

The pumpkin oat bran muffins sound absolutely delish! I'm gonna try those this weekend. I've actually been replacing sweet potato for the pumpkin in many recipes with equally scrumptious results. Canned pumpkin has gotten too expensive. My recipe for the year is crispy kale. Wash & de-stem a bunch of kale while pre-heating oven to 375F. Add 1 Tbsp. vinegar ( i like rice vinegar), 2 Tbsp. olive oil, & 2 Tbsp. parmesan...

Great thread... I love baked oatmeal, green smoothies and kale chips! One of my favorite new recipe this year was Jamie Oliver's Asian Noodle Salad that was posted on The Pioneer Woman blog: http://thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/2...ver_ever_ever/ Soooo good! I made it every week last summer

Popovers :)

I love popovers, my siblings and I have been making these since we were kids and Alton Brown's recipe is perfect, and soooooo easy, made in the blender. Some changes I had to make: -I don't own a popover pan, so used ramekins on a cookie sheet -used 1 percent milk, all I have -used salted butter, reduced the salt, seems like a lot anyway -my wet ingredients were cold, too impatient to wait Good breakfast for a snowy morning! One of my favorite things was this sweet squash bao recipe, but I modified it a tiny bit. It still looks exactly like the picture. Sorry the measurement units are still all over the place. I've been converting them as I go. Sweet Squash Bao filling: 1 container (approx 520g) butternut squash chunks from produce aisle ½ c. sugar/Florida Crystals ¼ tsp salt Steam squash in microwave. Drain well & mash. Mix with sugar &...

Sherry, this recipe is almost exactly like my lo fat pumpkin pie except that I cheat and use a more fattening prepared pie crust. I now sub cool whip for regular whipped cream (in the can) as it has more wholesome ingredients and tastes better. Itt comes out fantastic.
I love the gingersnap cookie idea for the crusts.

Our favorite green smoothie. Blend:
A handful of greens(our favorite -black kale)
3 or 4 bananas
a cup or more orange juice
water, if you want less thick smoothie.
The best way to eat your greens. My six year old loves it! I also add anything I want to add like ground up flaxseeds or hemp powder.

I got a set of Wolfgang Puck stainless steel cookware for around $100 at Sam's a few years ago. It did include a couple of nonstick skillets as well. I have used the pieces in the oven with no problem. I love it.

Lexy, about how many does a single recipe make?
I'm allergic to milk and this kind of cookie is a favorite of mine. I have wanted to look up a recipe so thanks for this one.

I have been reading about and experimenting with a raw diet too so I will be interested in seeing replies to this thread. I have been a vegetarian for about 20 years so the switch to raw is not as extreme for me but I do not think I can go entirely raw - I have been eating about 50-75% raw over the summer but with the cooler weather I seem to be craving more and more warm food. Also, I cannot ...
