Need more info. How exactly do you know that there is only 1 subtitle track? Did you simply look at the menu? Or did you actually use a tool like IFOEdit or something similar to check for subtitles? If you just assumed because of the menu that there is only 1 subtitle track, then yes, there may be one that you are not aware of. Subtitles can be forced on as a DVD command. Or the video may simply be encoded so that the selective subtitles are...

Compression is not always noticable. When I have captured from my Camera to my laptop (vista) by firewire simply the act of turning on my video camera activates a program "media import wizard" and it does a good Job, Nero is a good program that sometimes has a mind of it's own.

Thanks Baldrick for the quick reply Yes, the internal built in codecs of MPC HC is good enough for me (mp4 clips), cause I don't have many mkv clips......., but if I want to test out if the latest Haali Media Splitter with x64 support is better than the default built in codes of MPC HC in playing mp4 clips, must I first install the ffdshow x64 or can I just simply install the latest Haali Media Splitter and it will work with my existing...

Oh, and something else I noticed is that, on the merged video, at around 5 minutes into the movie, the audio and video are separated by about 2 seconds, with the video coming first, and then the corresponding audio coming next. At about 40 minutes into the movie they are seperated by about 10 seconds, with the video coming first, and then the audio coming (ten seconds) after

onboard video uses shared ram...which somewhat strains memory resources....IMHO it's better to get a separate video card if you're doing intensive graphics stuff.
i prefer using stand alone video cards for all the pc's that i build.
just my 2 freaking cents!

No, H264 is not lossless unless you use the lossless setting, in which case you will get a file that is identical visually, but several times larger than the video_TS folder you are converting.
Any conversion from a lossy format (e,g, mpeg-2) to a lossy format (e.g. H264) will incur some level of data loss. How much depends on a lot of factors, including the amount of compression applied...

Assuming the Bluray rips to be MKV format H264/DTS/AC3 files (use mediainfo to confirm this) the files will have to be converted to DVD spec format, and you will see a large reduction in quality.
If you have a bluray player or PS3, use Multi-AVCHD to create an AVCHD format structure, burn to a blank DVD with imgburn , and you will lose very little quality.
If you only have a ...

If it was purchased new recently, i would return it and research a player that can be made region free before buying one.

What is the video length and the audio length?
You can stretch the audio to match the video length using an audio editor like audacity . But the video could also be edited in different ways...then it's tons of work.

Can't you make a dvd directly in premiere elements ?
And to what size/resolution are you exporting the avi? Use 720x480.

Exactly what you want to do will depend on the capabilities of the player. But assuming you want square pixel encoding for Divx/Xvid or h.264 encoding:
Just resize your last image from 942x690 to 640x480 (or whatever 4:3 frame size you want). Nobody will notice the ~2 percent error.
For more accurate resizing trim a total of 22 more lines from the left and right sides to create ...

An uncompressed AVI takes up lots of space that's why compressions such as divx & xvid are popular. Anytime you compress a video you will loose some quality. How are you transfering the video to your PC? USB or Firewire?

It's not the size of the file that is the problem, I have plenty of HD WMV files around 4GB, and they are all fine with WMP11 and 12, I'm guessing that your files are corrupted in some way.
You could run them through Windows Media Stream Editor , which will simply rebuild the WMV files.

Do you mean a VCD? Go back a few years and VCDEasy was popular. That would be one possibility. You could try opening the video in Gspot and MediaInfo . They might give you more information, depending on what info is included with the file. TMPGEnc was also used a lot for the encoding part of a VCD file, but you still needed a VCD authoring program.
But others may have better ...

Ulead DVDMovieFactory will allow you to make proper 16:9 menus and these will appear letter-boxed on 4:3 tvs (I assume that is what you mean by 'automatically adjust')
You can also 'fake' it with other programs by using menu objects that have already been created for 16:9. So if you have an image of 720*432 pixels (pal) 720*420 pixels (ntsc) and use this as a background for your menu ...
