What I do most times is use VD to demux the audio out, then add that to Audacity . You can add it back the same way, disabling the old audio. Use the Audacity file browser to open the audio. Use the 'Change Tempo' effect if you want to change the length. I usually just leave VD open while I work on the audio file with Audacity. If the audio is VBR, you can also just save it out as a WAV with full processing and convert it back to...

Personally, I do this in virtualdubmod simply because it is a few mouse clicks, no re-encoding, and it works. (Caveat : I only use this method for AVI files)

Probably using Windows Media Encoder . If you don't want want to reconvert the video you can demultiplex the audio using Windows Media Stream Editor that is included in windows media encoder. Then try open the wma in WME and convert. Add back the new wma to the wmv using Windows Media Stream Editor again.
Or try WMVMuxer and see if you can copy the video and reconvert just the ...

In VD, disable the old audio and add in the new one, then save out all in Direct stream mode. But the audio length has to match exactly or you will have sync problems. (It rarely does ) I find VD Mod a bit easier for dealing with audio. AVIDemux can do this also.

If you just want do dump the DTS core, there is an option in tsmuxer (checkmark "downconvert DTS-HD to DTS" when demuxing)
Alternatively in eac3to
eac3to input.dtshd output.dts -core

Go to 'add hardware' in control panel and let Windows re-install your sound card and see if that helps.

Leave the audio in the .mkv container and use MeGUI . If you have more than 1 audio track, make a new mkv using mkvmerge (uncheckmark unwanted tracks). Make sure you have haali splitter installed, and ffdshow set to decode aac audio
