FIOS to DSL now I can't...

If you set up your Verizon account fully are you able to send and receive with that? If you are, then it's something in the settings of your other account. If you are not, then contact tech support an they should help you troubleshoot where the issue is. (They won't support your 3rd party account using Verizon's outgoing server, as relaying that way is "allowed" but not "supported" by Verizon.)

I have traced the issue to Verizon.  I hopped on a Comcast wifi network from my new neighbor and my outlook sent the messages with no problems using my original corp setup I used with my old FIOS.   This confirms that this DSL line is not worth keeping as I can not use it to send outlook email.

Published (2009-11-29 17:05:00)
Thanks again. After using your directions for connecting to the site, as in nr.8, I got  FTP information, to open a TCP/IP connection. How do I do that? In the FTP program I have filled out for host: ftpmysite.verizon.net.  For profile name I used WS_FTP32, is that correct? Maybe I am getting a little bit closer.

fyi you may have to add your POP to your VZ account.  so log in at verizon.net   go to your email section, and then on the left hand side wher all the folders are you will have mail settings that you can change.    in the mail settings there will be a TAB that is labeled as POP.   Put in your info there and try again.     that "may" help     I haven't used it myself, but i saw that in the my account section, and...

Sorry for the short fuse...A little agrivated from talking to India for the last couple of days.  Thanks for all your help.  I ended up resetting the modem, and then the GUI looked familiar.  Followed your steps and they worked!  This is by far the most rediculous home network hassle EVER...does verizon really think that you are going to only connect one WIRED device?  They really should default to this setup.  Oh well, thanks again.

Sadly, I do not know what is causing the problem but I am experiencing the same problem here in Westmoreland County, VA, (near Potomac River) an even more rural area then Lynchburg.  When I tried calling Verizon to get help, I got someone in India (again) who couldn't even find my home telephone account, much less my broadband account.    I have been having problems on and off since going from...

Depending on which 3rd party email provider you are using, your settings may need to be altered. Verizon is blocking 3rd party accounts sending through port 25 via a pop3 client, but not all 3rd party providers use 587 as their alternate port. Some providers do not even have an alternate port for SMTP, in which case your best option might be to use Verizon's outgoing server with your 3rd party ...

There are a couple of things you can try.   There are sometimes issues with that GUI And browsers other than IE, so you may have to try to download IE for mac and then try it again,  possibly firefox.   as a first step though, you would probably want to hard reset the router, meaning hold in the reset button for 20 seconds and then let it re-gain sync.    then try the same steps you did ...

Verizon doesn't block websites, so what happened with PNC was that Verizon had sent PNC several emails to their site admins stating that users with the IP Address block 'xyz' were not able to access their site, and to update their filters. TWO THINGS CAN HAPPEN. Because the problem is tied to an IP Address or more specifically a subnet from verizon that jacquielawson.com has ...
