Well, since you have multiple wireless devices and only one of them are having an issue. that eliminates the router for the most part. So this is likely an issue on the computer itself. Now if moving the adaptor from one usb port to another fixes the problem for a short time, that is basically resetting your adaptor. Now it could be a problem with the usb port but I really dont think so. Now it could be a problem with the driver/wireless...

You can move the router to another location assuming its connected at a splitter with the other COAX connections.  I assume you are not using Ethernet (Cat5) for Internet connectivity?

Since you asked for opinions, I will be happy to give mine   I would not touch AOL, MSN, or Yahoo with a 95 foot pole, much less a 10 foot pole! I have never understood the love some people have for the trash those folks put on their browers. I want my browser to work the way I want, to show what I want, and nothing else. As long as you keep your AOL account then everything should be fine.  Verizon and AOL do have a bundled single billing option, so you should be sure to ask about that when setting up your new service.

Triple play includes the televisions, phones and internet connection hosted by the fiber coming into your home.  It doesn't, at least to the best of my knowledge, include any wireless internet or mobile services remote from your home.  Maybe, just maybe the Verizon sales person you deal with thought that you were talking about wireless access via the router within your home.

There have been many complaints about the small NAT table in the Actiontec router causing issues with Peer to peer networking which is used heavily in gaming. One thing you could try is seeing if there is a network setting in the game that limits the simultaneous permitted connections. If you set that down to a reasonable amout the router will stop locking up. Or have the ONT switched from COAX ...

in most routers, you can specify your default number of connections, max.  yours may be set to one.  if it is a wireless router as well, and did you change the passwords away from default? you may just not have one of 2 things:  dhcp turned on at the router, and your client on the desktop. if it isnt, look for the correct range in the router, and set it on your desktop.

If you log into the router following the instructions in the users manual, you may be able to bypass the page you posted. Depending on where you are located, the router gets an IP either through DHCP or PPPOE. If it is PPPOE the user name for PPPOE setup would be verizonfios for both username and password in the PPPOE setup page. Or you can load the Verizon In Home Agent that should set it up ...

I have a second  router set up for wireless N netroking as the G is to slow for my needs. It is a simple setup. Leave the actiontec in place, hook up the new router anywhere in your house that has a ethernet connection. Log into the new router and set it to bridge mode(dhcp turned off). Your range will now be extended.

You technically don't "need" to load any software on your PC, however the installer uses this software to create and configure your email and your password, and Register the Terms of service as having been read and understood by you, so they will likely run this software regardless.  The software is non intrusive software, that simply acts as "Activation software" if anything, and also installs ...

To the best of my awareness there is no registry entry that increases upload speeds, so the optimizer would never have worked for you to begin with.     Are you wifi or hardwired?   The download speed is fine obviously, the upstream raises an eyebrow only.   I am definetly a betting man, and I would not put my money on ANY website (spekeasy speedtest.net etc etc et al) to give consistent and...

The first question to ask is how is everyone connected, wired or wireless.   If wireless what is the distance between the router and the furthest laptop.  As you move further away from the wireless router the wireless signal will get weaker and cause the Internet speed to move slower as well.  Also, the wireless will move as fast as the slowest laptop so if a laptop is only getting 1meg of ...

Sorry, not an answer but a question.   When you uncheck the authentication setting does it actually allow you to send mail using the VZ smtp server?? I can see how you could receive mail at a different location but cannot see how you can send mail without changing your outbound server.

most new computers will come with wifi built into the motherboard or added on as an additional peripheral.  you likely won't have to worry about that at all, but if you do have to pick up one individually then any G/N router should be fine.  so wireless G is what your FiOS router will do now, however, everything is moving to N as the new standard.  so you will want your card to be compatible ...
