I had a chat over lunch with an aquatic biologist knowledgeable about these things. I understand that Ms. Sturgeon releases up to 3 million of these unfertilized eggs into the water. These are completely inert until fertilized. Only a very small fraction of them are in fact fertilized. The rest will just decay or perhaps be eaten. The fish dumps them, and swims off. There is no further role for Ms. Sturgeon in this process. This is not taking...

caviar = the roe (unfertilized eggs) of a large fish, especially sturgeon, that is salted, seasoned, and eaten as a delicacy or relish. so in other words, no. I'm sorry but that was a really stupid question.

There is a lot of cruelty involved in the production of caviar, information I have read about what they do to the female fish to extract the eggs has made me wince

I know next to nothing about this kind of thing, but I liken this to the argument of eating rescued hens eggs. Sure, you could argue that there's a distinction between eating the eggs of wild fish and that of a domesticated hen, but the parallel remains. Personally I'm not interested in looking for loop holes which would "allow" me to eat at least some animal products, because for me being vegan isn't a set of...

Hi, my tooth hurts a lot, and in two days is my appointment with the dentist. I was wondering, is there a natural analgesic that I could take in the meantime, and are these analgesic in pills healthy? Thanks _________________ "The root of unhappiness is dissatisfaction!" I eat it. I take it to mean that other products with milk in them are made in the same factory and there is a possibility that some of the milk may end up in the vegan stuff along with the flies and mouse shit that all mass produced food contains if you believe the stories from people who work there. _________________ Grizzly Graham ( veganis horribilis ) You can be in my nightmares if you...

I would add "tempeh" and mexican black beans to the protein list. "Whole wheat Bread" would be great for the grains list. This is a great list! _________________ Freedom & Solidarity Institute Click to help my parter, Melissa, raise money for a bike ride to end AIDS. More info here: Rodolfo's Personal Site

Normally when going to a non vegan restaurant I do not even look at the menu. When the waiter comes explain that you are a vegan and get him to suggest something. Or better yet ask him to get the chef to recommend something.
