Best of luck with his surgery. You'll be able to breathe a big
sigh of relief when it is over. I'm with the others on the whole bandage thing...didn't have one for either surgery. Had steri-strips the first time, was sewn from the inside out this last time with nothing visible on my chest.

All the best for the 16th Doug. I shall be thinking of you and vortexing as many
guardian spirits as I can to look after you and the surgical team!

I don't know the answer on this one. I never studied up on
robotic surgery, since my situation also had an almost-hidden aneurysm that my surgeon could not "see" until he actually got into my chest. (It could not usually be seen, except with a thoracic CT scan.) If you had some time and endless money I would recommend getting the opinion of Dr. Liang at Stanford who was the only one who ...

Thank to everyone for all there feedback.
I met with my surgeon yesterday and have decided to move ahead with the surgery. I will have the aneurism repaired and my BAV replaced with a
St. Jude's. The decision for me at 40 was based on avoiding future operations as much as possible.
The surgeon has said that I am stable and that it doesn't need to be done today. With the holidays, I am ...

Good Morning
I agree with Al, my wife got my
Christmas present early for me. A new recliner with heat and vibrator. One thing I did was to build a 6 inch box for it to sit on. Bolted it to the box for safety. This helped me a whole lot. Especially in the getting out of it part. I just lean forward and I'm out. No pushing upward with my arms on the arms of the chair. I spent 3 months in the ...

This might be what is called hemolysis.
My uncle's doctors recently suspected his defective native aortic valve might have been causing hemolysis for him -- and I was under the impression that having a native valve cause it was an unusual situation and it is more frequently caused by a mechanical valve -- though I didn't hear the
final diagnosis about Uncle's situation. But it was at ...

Hello all- I want to say first that I have been reading and learning so much and that this site is a Godsend. I am a 61 year old male with a complex history waiting to be scheduled for aortic and bicuspid replacement along with 3 re-bypasses. I had Hodgkins Disease when I was 28 and in those days they gave massive doses of radiation with minimal effort to preserve
heart and lungs. 33 years ...
