Splitting a "direct"...
Published (2009-12-13 22:34:00)
> Hi I have a "direct" reward flight from London to Sydney (VS200) which I booked in Economy using miles. There's never a time when both the London to Hong Kong (VS200) and the Hong Kong to Sydney (VS200) legs both have PE availability, so it seems there is never going to be any chance of me upgrading the "direct" flight. There is however availability for the Hong Kong to Sydney leg of the journey. I rang up Virgin...

Reward flights and Amex reward...
Published (2009-12-13 23:22:00)
> I would like to book 2 reward flights to MBJ next November and then upgrade them to PE using my Amex upgrade vouchers. I realise I am too early to book at the moment but would be grateful for some advice on the timing and process. I understand I need to book a T class reward fare first and then upgrade to U. I can search for reward flights on the VA site and when I see availability I assume these are T class. However when I search for PE...

height="100%"> One small word of caution. You will sometimes get a VS representative say that there must be T availability which then is changed to a U. This is not correct. If they say this thne ask them to speak to their supervisor. This has happened on numerous occassions.

height="100%"> Don't worry about the T availability if you want to upgrade to PE . There needs to be a U available. VS will then 'create' a T for you, and upgrade it with your voucher. I get caught in a loop when I try and search for reward flights at the moment (I'm trying to book one myself!) so can't see why no PE are showing up, but it should be possible to do that online too, but you will have to...

height="100%"> I would personally call VS to search for reward flights. They will be able to search a period of dates much quicker than you would be able to using dummy bookings on the VS site (which is the only way online to find reward availability). As locutus has said, you need to 'buy' with your miles an Econ 'U' fare and then use your voucher to upgrade to PE . The release of rewards is very difficult to...

height="100%"> I imagine the best way to get the most accurate and correct info is to give special assistance a call. You will be able to discuss your potential individual needs and they will be able to explain and advise on everything. Here is the special assistance page on the VS site. And this page is specific to assistance dogs. Neil

height="100%"> Hi, To have the small plane appear, you need to add you flights in to the itinerary forum, it will then automatically appear. To have the flying club card/colour appear under your user name, you need to add your flying club number in to your profile by using the 'edit my profile' button. Neil

height="100%"> It sounds like VS are starting to pull the BA tactic of 'You have to use the self service' Ignore it. The official line is, if you are Flying Club Silver, then you can use PE check-in at all airports when checking in with VS regardless of class of travel (obviously not including Upper). LGW does have a separate Ag check-in desk. I don't recall seeing a ...

height="100%"> Link to the SA Duty Free website Whenever I have brought wine home from South Africa, I always buy it from a normal shop and then pack it in my suitcase to travel home (using lots of clothes to pad around the bottles). Wine is so cheap in SA, that you will hardly save anything by buying it in duty free - unless your suitcase is already full!
