That could be part of the problem, it may be faulty. I have had problems with one or two regulators I got from GSF a few years ago labelled as Bosch (but now I'm not certain wether they were really made by Bosch or not!!). If you can get a genuine Bosch one from Megabug then you should have no problems at all. If you cannot get one from Megabug, then you can get one from Cool Air VW (they're a good supplier as well) which is on...

Warm air riser to the air cleaner. Millions of people will jump in and say it doesn't matter, but you need a warm air riser and it takes heat from by the exhaust port to get warm air to the carb as quick as poss. Twin carbs may also benefit from a bit of warm air too.

Something along these lines perhaps? That's on adjusters only there and not sure of the width of the wheels, possible 5.5 all round.

You will need a bellhousing to mount the starter to. Is this a 1600 engine? If it's a late Type 4, then the bellhousing and starter must match. In the end, bench test may be more trouble than simply plugging the engine into the car. More info needed. Speedy Jim http://www.nls.net/mp/volks/

I will be putting my speakers under the seats. I want to keep the engine area free for shopping. I have some pieces of wood which I will use to steady them, although it'll be a bit weird as I will have to use gaffer tape on the inside to stick it down. I'll hopefully put the head unit behind the original radio plate. My original plate, I will keep that for safe keeping. Hopefully find ...

you could probably part the cases and have them hot dipped ok, you'd need to weld them back together but the welds would last for ages unprotected with all the rest of the sacrificial protection. I dont know about the aluminium exchanging surface though, I expect that might not go down too well in a bath of molten zinc

The safest way I can think to do this is get the correct length of spring steel and weld the torsion spline of an old plate into the new plate. This aleviates ruining the spring properties further down the plate

Some reading up - http://www.johnmaherracing.co.uk/transmissions.htm RPM calculator - http://www.johnmaherracing.co.uk/toolbox.htm IIRC shift lights should be set at maximum power rpm (you'll need a dyno run for that) Safe rev limits - Stock crank 4500 - 5000 rpm, counterweighted 6000 - 6500. You can go higher on a C/W crank if you get it balanced within very close tolerances but ...
