How easy is it to move the temp lever? If it seems too easy then it might have come disconnected. Otherwise, the vacuum operated valve inline with the heater hose might be stuck shut. Pull the vac line off of it and plug it with something. Golf tee's work well.

Well, I found a 5 speed here locally. Even comes with the shifter and a decent speedo cable! Now just gotta install it... So, how's the tear-down coming?

Will do sir. I've found a couple of things on tranny internals but have'nt had a chance to tear it down yet, i'm still getting the other tranny in and doing wheel bearings and cv-joint boots at the same time ! YaY !!! Hopefuly i'll be done tonight ?

I'm not sure what a hold/cold control door is but I know that tha temperature lever works a blend flap in tha heater box. Tha lever actually has nothing to do with how much flow is going through tha heater core like some older vw's. Just mentioning tha thermostat because old thermostats are slow to react and a new one helps heat up tha engine quicker. As far as tha hoses, they can both still be ...

it's supposed to be lit normally so you can see the switch at night. don't think it's supposed to go out when you turn the lights on though, but who knows
