Probably 1/2npt looking at it, its physical size is close to 5/8 JIC which is the same as a -10an. Check here: http://fittingsandadapters.com/fitsizchar.html to make sure, and if you can print check this: http://fittingsandadapters.com/fitsizchar.html Modified by need_a_VR6 at 10:11 AM 11-8-2009

i am unsure of how much room you have, but i use some sockets that are cut inside like a turbo inside. mine are snap on but i have seen them at local partstores. you put the socket over the out side of the bolt or screw and as you loosen it, the turbo like cuts inside grab tighter and tighter with each turn. hope this helps

Check the Hybrid/swap forum. You have to combine two pins on your fuse block for the cluster to work from a mk3. If your mk2 cluster doesnt work then you need a tach adapter.

floated a valve bent some, or skipped a tooth or few with the timing chains. take out the spark plugs, crank the motor over by hand and see how awful it feels. If all feels normal replace the sensor and see if it starts. If not begin tearing motor apart

That code means exactly what it says. Pull your intake manifold off, take off the valve cover, take off the side cover and then rotate the crank to TDC with the intermediate shaft mark showing while someone holds the tensioner tight so you don't skip any timing. Throw the cam alignment tool in to check mechanical timing. Make sure that the chain guides aren't broken and check that your tensioner is still good. Also make sure there...

i have this same problem in my b4 passat. My cluster lights flicker and the speedo and tach act pretty crazy above 40mph it seems. Everything else electrical wise with the car is fine. Fuses, connections seemed fine so I took the cluster out and everything seemed fine too. Going to try cleaning my grounds in the engine bay and then buy another cluster to see if that fixes it. Like to see what ...

Won't work, the 4 cylinder motors use a different bolt pattern from the VR6 so you will need to find either a VR6 02A transmission or you will need to find a VR6 bell housing for the 02A and put this on your current transmission and re-shim it. A VR6 auto and manual use the same long block but the 4 and 6 cylinder bolt patterns are different.

There are a number of differences between these two motors but if you are going to keep the electrical from the 1995 there is very little to be concerned with. Both motors use the same bottom end and the head is the same except the coil-pack head has the porting for the air pump and the distributer head doesn't. Otherwise they both use the same head casting for the ports and the cam is the same ...

It is way easy to get to without removing the engine, just reach back there! My word of advice would be to put either some PB Blaster or wd40 on the studs/nuts ahead of time otherwise you'll end up breaking every other one.

my 2000 vr6 jetta was behaving similarly, I changed the t-stat and now it's fine. I think what was happening is that the thermostat would only open when it got super hot, not allowing the coolant to circulate and cool down. I think you might be having the same problem. Dont drive the car if its overheating like that.

blinking CEL means misfire usually. that would also explain the gas smell since it's still injecting fuel and there's no spark to burn it up. could be a multitude of things from plug wires being loose/bad to coil pack problems. best to get it at least scanned with a generic OBD2 scanner if you can't get your hands on a VAG-COM. Don't drive it, just borrow a car or hitch a ride to buy a scanner ...

Did you or the PO delete the charcoal can? Perhaps one of the hoses is venting to air, and its coming in through your fresh air inlet.
