Kind of vauge... what kind of sound? where is it coming from? Is the cam turning as you crank it over? (if you are by yourself, just look to see if the cam
timing mark moved when you crank it) Pull the timing cover plug off the tranny and see if the motor is turning when you crank it.

Do you have: Vac gauge,
Wideband gauge? Has it been timed properly? Does it idle well? What rpm are you idling at with the t-body screw all the way in? Does it run hot?

umm well first off you need a crank sensor for obd1.. you also need a fuel rail and injectors.. you will need all the sensors off of the 8v... your stock dizzy also needs to be switched to
single window trigger wheel

Meter from the ECU harness to the Injector harness, check to see if the wires are broken. You said you swapped different ECU's? So it must be the wiring.

you've got a 9A block if it's from a later 16v which is a common upgrade. the hot set up is to still use your 1.8 head. almost everything is the same except of course the
head gasket. you have to use the correct 2.0 head gasket. you can keep the same tranny & clutch and basically everytthing else provided you have a 9A and not an ABA which i'm not familiar with. but if it came out of a ...

do a search about injector flow rates on here, I am dam near for certain the
aba ones flowed a little less, like about either 8 or 10% less "volume" I did alot of research on this a little while back
