How to apply wax?

Collinite doesn't respond well to being applied thickly - it can be the devil to buff off. Thin layers work best. How many layers? How much time do you have? You ought to leave the wax to go off between coats unless you're spit shining, so I tend to stop after two coats. I would think that there's little point applying more than three or so.

How to apply wax?

Hi, I normally use AG SRP and then AG EGP after, but now I've decided to add a bit more bling and have bought some Collinite 915. Question is, the instructions aren't that clear - do I put on thinly, then buff off? Thicker? Leave for a while ? Also, how many coats of EGP and 915 should I use ?

if its peeling you can blow it with an airline and loads will come off,
Failing that thinners might do the trick if used very carefully, but don't
go mad or you will take the paint off underneath!

Personally, I'd buy £300 of detailing gear and put it to much better use.
These dealer-issued protection programs have a ridiculous markup, much like the Magnashield, scotchguard etc.
as a rough idea, £300 would get you a decent mitt, bucket, shampoo, polish, sealant, wax, wheel cleaner, wheel wax, window cleaner, microfibre cloths, interior protectant/cleaner.... the list goes on.

Hi,
I've got a small piece of lacquer peel on the rear panel where it meets the opening for the rear door. The paint is fine. Would I need to get this area resprayed or is there a simpler repair that a detailer could do??
Thanks,

I tend to agree with you. I would only ever do a quick detail if the car has been left in the garage and has a thin layer of dust over it. You do risk damaging the paintwork by moving the dirt around!
I tend to use the quick detailer after a normal wash as I find I am often left with water marks on the car, or to help remove bird poo!

When it's dirty?
Sorry...
I've no scientific evidence or whatever but I wash my A6 fortnightly, seems to be just the right interval. It gets used daily. In the winter months, I wash cars more (whilst dodging gaps in the rain and snow!) purely so that any salt or grit on the roads isn't left lingering in the paintwork or the alloys, hence why some people buy "winter alloys".
I ...

As already mentioned, the trick is to use a really good wax to prevent having to scrub your wheels clean.
I can highly recommend a wax called 'Poorboy's Wheel Sealant'. I've been using it for the past 6 months and its made life much easier!
