@ Larry70GS Thank you for your help. Yes, maybe the tranny of the austrian guy doesn?t work properly. @rmstg2 This is the answer, what i like. You describe all the features what i prefer. Thank you very much. Can you tell me, which Tranny builder made this Transmission ? Can i generally say, that for Shift characteristic, shift RPM and all the other features i have to tell it only to the Tranny builders, and he can build it ? Best Regards Michael

Is it the tranny that is broke or the block. I'm going to guess it's the tranny. If you aren't having any issues with it it's probably not going to be a problem. I wouldn't pull it out just to fix it but I wouldn't put it together that way either. If it's the tranny you might want to start looking for another case for later. Good Luck Bob H.

Erik, I didn't think I would notice much an improvement over a good local rebuild. But, I was wrong! This thing was set up out of the box just about perfect for my combo.

I am NO expert but I have rebuild a couple of automatic transmissions. Since no real experts are talking yet I got out my book and looked at the THM400 diagnosis chart. The closest problem I could find to what you describe is "No part throttle downshifts" Condition (a) "3-2 valve stuck, spring missing or broken." Correction "Free valve and or replace spring." Condition (b) ...

200R4 has a governor just like a 350 does. That controls the WOT upshifts. Depending on which code 200R4 you get , the governor will be set differently. You can buy performance governors separate from the transmissions at -for instance- CK performance. You should be able to talk to the builder about the shift RPMs you are looking for. I have spoken and dealt with Chris at CK ...

A th400 uses a different input shaft and front pump than a sp400. With a rebuild video like this one VID the change over wil be smooth as silk. At the same time replace the intermidiate sprag. The weak link. Ray

Another review here. I installed a new TCI T-400 into a mildly built 70 GS last week along with a Hughes converter. This tranny cost about $1200 and I wasn't sure it would be worth it. I have had 3 rebuilt ones in my other GS and never really liked the performance of them. This TCI is what the doctor ordered. You don't even know this thing shifts because it's so quick. No gov. adjustments ...

Sounds like the vacuum modulator is not working. It works from vacuum from the engine and dictates the the shifting of the trans. to shift under light load. Check the hose lines for cracks or disconnection at the vacuum modulator at the back of the trans. and the back of the intake manifold. Ray

Ok Tim here you go. When you stage and get ready to launch, you preload the converter like at 2000 rpms. Now if you have a 4000 stall converter, when the light turns green, when you mash it at your launch, the engine and converter will flash up to the 4000 speed stall, therefore putting your cam and converter into the proper rpm range to launch your car as efficiently as possible. This ...
