i had the same problem with a peugoet .i did the same replaced glow plugs ,and it turned out to be that the
starter motor was not spinning fast enough.you can try and jump start it with another battery in the morning and see if it starts better.also have your battery tested.

it sounds like you have a
speed limiter fitted ,,if it a ford one they can be reprogrammed but sorry its out of my league,,

Might be worth checking
earths at battery and engine , also wiring at starter motor / solenoid .

Know what you mean re. space to work on engine , the guys that design the cars should be made to repair / work on them . Got to say I have little knowledge of that car , apart from one of my sons friends who has one . He is a mechanic also and I spoke to him re. fault . He hasn't had this problem with his car and agrees with all you have tried and possible throttle body .Dont know if fuel ...

every road test with a customer I went on to hear a noise / fault which never appeared !!!!! only for them to phone up later to say it started again after leaving garage !!!! Usually heater
ballast resistor cause of this fault .
