Thanks for the info and sharing your thoughts....It might be helpful to know the names of the programs one rotated through, so others can get an idea of the
clinical/surgical experience at that hospital...

I agree. It does seem like it is more competitive. But, that may just be the vocal minority touting their high scores. I know some residents who matched last
year with 220's It is hard to say when the AUA does not release stats like USMLE scores or research experience. Maybe more people are
discovering how
awesome urology is and it really is getting more competitive. Its pretty stressful thinking...

Some programs keep the same dates year to year (i.e.
2nd Saturday of Nov or last Friday of Oct.) you can find some of these dates on the programs website you
can link to through ERAS. The new website (Coming very soon!) will offer a site-calender that allows you to see which programs have offered interviews and the
dates as reported by applicants. As far as I know the earliest interviews are ...

Look at old threads. It's the basics:
1) Do well on
Step II - study for 3 months if you have to
2) Research - get in on some good research, if you are at a top 5 school there should be plenty to go around. Even if you don't publish at least you'll
have something to talk about at interviews
3) Good Letters - get these from your home program and your aways
4) Do good away rotations - do ...

Sweet talk/bribe the secretary and ask her to email/contact you once the letter is sent out. DO NOT post that you have a letter until you know it will be sent.
Some attendings are notorious for waiting until the last minute to send it in, and you don't want that hanging out on your
ERAS application. By the way,
don't pester the secretary, or if will backfire and your letter will be "lost in ...

Honors would be better, but honestly, unless you got a
DNP or some negative rating, it doesn't really matter. Once again, Board scores, LOR, research, and
something that sets you apart from everyone else will get you an interview. Plus, everyone's grading system is so different, and there is really no
standard grading used by all med schools, the honors/HP/Pass/etc is really subjective. Don't ...

It's never too late. If you're interested, you need to set up some
rotations pronto. Just so you know, being a DO is quite a disadvantage in the MD
world. Most, but not all Urology programs would prefer an MD over a DO. Really looks funny trying to explain that to a very large MD pool of applicants. I
think there are about 4 -6 DO urology spots in the nation. (Please correct me if I'm wrong). ...
