Very interesting 7 minute video on YouTube detailing the history, mission and Cadet life at NY Maritime College- interviews with Adm Craine as well as with historian, various Cadets and others. It's a pretty good overview of the school for those interested: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZqvkqrXfSVI

Bruno, your son still wears his uniform on furlough, even as a Third Classman? What a tool... you can tell he's a CPL! This four-year PVT outgrew that after Thanksgiving furlough of rat year.

Looks like most northeast airports are a no go for today. Latest advice was don't count on much for Sunday since the planes are being stored in "safe" locations. News saying Monday will be the best bet for getting a flight out due to so many cancellations.

I hope everyone made it out OK. I had the opportunity to drive in the storm and after the storm. Drove up to goaliegirl's school in central NH Thrusday night/Friday morning. Caught a couple hockey games at a regional tournament Friday and Saturday. Got her equipment back to her school and we left at 1600 Saturday. Made very good time (intentionally driving fast knowing that the storm would slow me down later) and stayed away from the...

My understanding is that it is snowing pretty good down in Lexington...per the “boyfriend". Wish all of you who have kids or those who are attending VMI good luck and safe travels. For a Second thought- VPI is buried in snow already from what I hear per a co-worker who is there.

My son got his appointment letter from VMI today! We are so proud of him. He is still waiting to hear about the ROTC scholarships to help pay for it, of course. We hope to hear something by Christmas on those.

As you were on the "10 years later" remark (I'm thinking about when I graduated from VMI in 1999). This coming summer, it will be 15 years ago that Ms. Faulkner entered The Citadel. Which means, this August, it will have been 15 years since I first entered Jackson Arch at VMI. So now I feel like an old fart.
