That is correct. The minimum of 50 is for IET soldiers. All other Army personnel (active and reserve) who are non-IET soldiers must attain the minimum Army standard of at least 60 points per event.

Test Scores for SLS?
Published (2009-12-11 19:30:00)
I would give them all the scores you have, I'm pretty sure the admissions office looks at test scores in the way that they make you look best and that your higher SAT writing would help offset the lower PSAT score. May be wrong, but just my$.02

I talked with my admissions rep at West Point, and last year they withdrew 2 offers of admission to people who had had LOA's. Moral of story, they want people taking hard classes and TRYING, and if you don't get the subject, go in for the extra help, because your admissions rep can still help you keep that offer as long as you tried as hard as you could, i.e. don't slack! Hi, I am in a sort of dilemma. I am president of my school's Leo Club, and also I am a member of the Varsity Track team. I may be on the leadership committee this year, but I will definitely be on it next year for Track. Track practices every day of the week, and Leo Club has a full meeting each week along with an officer's meeting which is much shorter. I feel that I would have to reason with my coach to allow me to miss practice...

I was just about to give up on an LOA as well, but thankfully got one in the middle of November (Happy birthday to me!). I was cleared by DODMERB in July and I'm taking my CFA tomorrow morning. The only thing I have to wait on is my nomination. The interviews and applications are done, but I have to wait until the middle of January to hear from the offices

Beast is split into two details, each is three weeks long. First detail is more introductory stuff like learning how to march, drill, etc and the second detail is more field training (road marches, marksmanship, etc.)

From what I've read, basketball throw is all about technique and practice. You'll grow a lot and get a lot of strength over the next two years, and if you do a search of these forums, you'll get a lot of tips that may help you. If you go to summer seminar, they'll give you a lot of hands on practice and tips too. But as you said, for nearly all of these, the best thing to do is practice.

Because you have a LOA, you do not need to have an extremely competitive CFA score, you just need to pass it. According to my JROTC instructor who administered the CFA at my school, 3 pull ups are usually the "magic number." If you can do 4-5 pull-ups, you should be good. I am not certain, but I believe a mile time under 8:00 would also be passing.
For now, just rest up so that you can ...

Our experience with this situation is that most teachers/coaches would make arranagements. Track provides an easy solution...you run on your own the day you have a meeting. It's much simpler than say, football, where it would be more difficult to make up tackling drills on your own.
Talk to the teachers/coaches, let them know what is at stake, "An possible an education at the finest school in ...

Congratulations on your appointment. What a relief to have that settled so early in the process. Aim for A's; if you hit a few B's you are still in good shape. Maintain excellent study habits so you do not lose the momentum. West Point is academically challenging. The best way to prepare for that is to continue to challenge yourself up until graduation.

I'll do my best to answer some and let others chime in:
1. I don't know the amount but whatever it is, you certainly don't see all of it. Most of it goes towards paying off your uniforms, computer, books, and various other things. When I was there back in the dark ages (84-88 ), I want to say that we got about $30 a month in actual "pay" plebe year - which you used to buy toiletries, ...

I'm not sure about the test scores but as to the High School scholarship thing for money, it's a waste of time (IMVHO) and not used by any school that I know. It's the National Honor Society that counts.

Two nominations is indeed better than one. Unless you are holding an LOA conditional only upon receiving a nomination. Two gives the SA more flexibility in awarding you an appointment.
You would not "grade" better, no influence there. But having two or more is yet another slate of nominations from which you might be selected to receive the appointment.
