If he does any kind of scribbling or drawing at all, he will be fine for K. That's the year they introduce writing, so any familiarity with holding a nice
fat crayon will be plenty. OM-K is wonderful. It will feed a
gentle spirit beautifully.
*SMACK SMACK* for being such a bad mommy and ever leaving OM for grade 1-3.

Has he read the Pullman series "
His Dark Materials"? It is edgy, but somewhat disturbing, too. I guess it would depend on how sensitive he is.

We're in the planning stages now, Ro. Son will be entering 9th next year. He probably won't start cc until he's a junior; he's just not
mature enough to sit in a classroom full of older teens and adults just yet. He's an artsy kid, so I'm thinking of having his first cc course be
photography or something in the
graphic arts. He'll probably go on to maths next as that is his forte.

He will get everything done. I say listen to him, he probably knows he can't 'work on his writing' well AND start
Algebra at the same time. I
say give him a couple of months to work on his writing, and then have him work on his Algebra.

I love this video. That math teacher is really neat. I made a list of the games they showed in the video and I'm going to look those up. I think I
should try to read some books on
homeschooling now and maybe find some more videos, because that video definitely made me feel really good. I also have some
uncertainty about homeschooling and not everyone around me is positive.
Anyway thanks for...

I'll probably be enrolling son in the whole high school program next year. That's around $2500. I wish Audrey could get something on that!

We do school in the dining room, which I love!
We have a computer desk in there and a large hutch, which is where I keep my curriculum, art supplies, dictionaries, etc.
I love it because I don't have to clear all the school books away during lunch, which is the problem that I ran into when I did school at the kitchen
table.
Also, my
dining room chairs have cushions on them, which is ...

By the way, just how good is teaching textbooks for math?
Well, it gets a lot of flack, but for us it's been a miracle. Daughter, who is a math-hater, is finishing up Alg. 2. She tested into
college algebra
after only doing Alg. 1, so she must be learning something. (We were afraid she'd only test into remedial algebra, so we were really ...
